Why? The players have to be feeling worse than us. To fight you way back only to lose to a flukey goal is demoralizing.

How is losing 4-0 better than losing 5-4 in double OT?  Coming back obviously gives the team more momentum than losing in blowout fashion.  Any other perspective is simply looking through the most negative lense.

They know if they don’t give up a huge lead going into the 3rd period that they should be able to win without a doubt

Because they fought back only to lose. That can be worse than just losing outright. Whether you agree with me or not. It’s not looking through a negative lense it is common sense.

Similar thing happened in game 3 of ecf in 2006. Gerber let in 4 goals, got pulled, team rallied and lost by one. Gerber in net for game 4 and got a shutout win.

Whole team from BDM to bottom fugs need to step up their games in order to win this cup. Period. I  believe from what I have wathed as  a non expert hockey dude that they can beat these fugs badly if they can  get their poo tight and actually play to their potential. JMO would be a great for a second cup for the Carolinas.

I am fairly confident that won’t happen if Freddy is in net. Just from the few stops Bussi made it is obvious Freddy is a liability.
Bussi made stops Freddy could never make including that penalty shot.

Back after email validation fiasco.

With all due respect, this is an awful take. Coming back from 4-0 to force OT is a huge feat and shows that these games can turn at any moment. That is much more promising than losing 4-0 or, let’s be real, 6 or 7-0 if Freddie had stayed in the game, and being completely demoralized.

Fighting back, regardless of the outcome, proves Carolina has the ability, and the desire, to be competitive and, as Game 2 shows, win these games. Not fighting back after being down 4-0 doesn’t show those things and is a worse way to lose.

There are so many in the board with a viewpoint that is the antithesis of Roosevelt’s Man in the Arena. This “It’s better to just get stomped than fight back from down 4-0 only to lose” is an extension of that.
