Kiper says Cam now '10-12 area in draft'

I just wonder what the hell we would be talking about if Luck declared.

What if we don't draft a QB this year suck again next year. End up with the first overall pick again and he goes back again for his senior year.

Do we pull a Jonestown at that point? :p

Please note than I am not implying that if we don't draft a QB this year we will suck again next year.

Weren't there people already saying that Hurney would screw it up and pass on Luck, even before he said he was going back to school? I guess that would have been the debate.

They were until the Panthers came out and officially announced they'd take Luck.

Next year will be a better QB draft class. We wont have the number 1 pick but we will surely get very close to it. Next year should be a perfect time to get our QB. And to be honest there is no way Andrew Luck dont come out. The only QB i see staying out of Luck,Barkley, And Jones. Is Landry Jones. So Lets go Defense and Build it up in this draft and find a pretty good TE and when we find that QB the pieces will be in place for the panthers to leave there mark on the league. I really dont trust this QB class at all but if they go QB its best to go Newton.

Trust me, by this time next year, these scouts and analysts will find something wrong with those QB's too. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Lucks' 2011 numbers turn out to not be as good as his 2010 numbers.

You still don't get that it's not about the numbers?

The numbers are part of it, but that doesn't matter. They will find flaws, once they start digging. They always do. They found them with Peyton Manning, for crying out loud, so no college QB is immune to criticism. I can remember that the scouts were really worried about his "happy feet" in the pocket. There is no perfect QB and every one of them is a gamble to one extent or another.

Kiper is PAID by agents to advocate and denounce certain players. The higher the player goes the more money the agent gets... Kiper is just a tool for them. His opinions are useless. If they weren't he would have had an NFL GM or at least a scouting position by now...

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
