A perspective on the Shockey move from a Saints fan

Carolina fans. Dont believe the hype from the media. Shockey is a good guy and a super great teammate that will be missed dearly by us Saints. Yes, his production has declined, and he does get injured a lot. But he gets injured because he give 100 percent everytime he is on the field. He could be a great security blanket for a QB, especially if you guys get somebody like Gabbert at QB. He doesnt have the speed anymore, but he can still get open, and he still can catch the ball wherever, and he is still a very dangerous redzone threat. The media doesn't like him because he does not like the media, and usually avoids playing any kind of games with them. But countless people who have dealt wish Shockey will tell you he is a great guy, from helping out charities, signing autographs, being friendly with fans in the public, he is a good guy. So embrace him. If he starts to feel attacked that's when the bad Shockey comes out, and thats what happened in NY.

A good pick up guys.

Shockey still has a little left in the tank and could still put up big numbers where he's not the 3rd-4th target in an offense...he'll be a nice security blanket for whatever QB Jerry trots out there.

thanks for the vote of confidence. TEs usually get aton of targets in the chargers offense as did winslow while chud was the OC in cleveland. shockey really hasn't had an opportunity like this since the giants. he should be in the top 2 as far as targets go.

side note, not sure your intentions with the "haters gonna hate" thing going on, but i have spent a lot of time with people who have down syndrome (in addition to my aunt who just passed away about a year ago at 55 years old) and they have always been some of my favorite people to be around because they don't take themselves or anyone else seriously. they are just fun people to be around and do a lot to make people smile. people would be better off if they knew someone like that for something other than to make fun of.

I love how fans of a team that have been the doormat of the NFL for 40+ plus years...yeah they have a ring...can comment on a former player going to a division rival and saying he 'wont be missed'......The Aints are turning into the '02 Bucs...did it one time and won't be back

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
