So a CB hasn't been drafted first overall, fine...

The rationale for why a corner has never been taken first in the draft is that they can be too easily schemed around and taken out of the game. If you overload the corner's side with an over and under route and send a running back in the flat, he can't cover everybody.

A DT is involved on every play and while you can double him, you are having to game plan for him all day. A corner isn't even involved on plays to the opposite side of the field.

Yeah shutting down 25 percent of the field is not important. Also he would help on ST's. So he will touch the ball more than a DT.

I think this year all the old draft rules go out the window. No one at the traditional #1 pick positions is worth it and the clear two best players in the draft are at CB and WR. While they aren't the traditional #1 pick, they can both greatly improve our team and I think that's what the FO should look at.

If we don't get one of those two, I want MD.

I just dont feel the DTs in this draft deserve to be schemed around. I will be fine with dareus as the pick I just think we should for once pick the Best player in this draft.

There is no question that PP is a stud. He largely shut down AJ Green (4 catches) and Julio Jones (3 catches) this year. I just think that we have larger holes to fill. if we can get that done I would be fine with a corner perhaps next year or this year if we trade down and get more picks.

Without a pass rush he won't be shutting down anything. And there are other guys we can use on special teams so we don't need him. Sure he would help the team but you don't worry about plugging a small leak when you have much larger ones already. You plug the biggest one first and work down in order of priority.

Didn't Jones go for 100+ and a TD with those 3 catches?
