Poll of NFL sources finds gulf of opinion on QBs

When you are just throwing in shorts with no pass rush... you shouldn't only go 11 for 21.

That's if you want to play in the NFL as a QB.

This post brought to you by a fan that doesn't understand what the coaches and scouts are looking at in the qb combine drills.

They don't give a damn about the completions. I know that is difficult for you and others to understand.

They are watching the qb's footwork in the 3, 5, and 7 step dropback. They are watching the qb's throwing mechanics. They are watching to see if the qb is throwing to the spot they are told to, regardless where the receiver is.

Nothing else.

I only saw highlights of the passing drills, however, there was one sequence on deep throws where a couple of guys clearly underthrew the ball, and the receiver had to stop and wait on it.

Yes, these were completions, but if I am a scout, that's as much or more of a negative than an overthrown incompletion.

I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me why having receivers he "wasn't familiar with" hurt Cam Newton so much but didn't seem to affect anybody else.

During the passing drills, I was surprised that he didn't tuck it and run a few times.

You mean like when Brees short hopped three different passes??? Especially deep outs. Again someone needs to alert the Saints of this so they can upgrade their QB position.

By the way if you were actually paying attention he only thew 4 bad passes.

Unfortunately for Cam 3 of those 4 ended up in like the third row. :D :D

He did fine which is why a lot of scouts still have him rated the number one QB.

What are you going to do with your time after the draft? Moving to whatever city he's drafted by?

The combine is such a joke. Going into it, Cam was seen as the top dog. He had a bad day with WRs he wasn't used to and Gabbert didn't even throw. Then all the sudden Gabbert is the top dog! And Mallett, who has "character issues", actually threw fairly well but no one cared because of the kid's issues. The combine is NOT a means to defining anything. Looking at a QBs college career is the only real way to do it. Why people care so much about the combine is beyond me. The only guys it DOES work for are guys like Chris Johnson, small school nobodies who catch someones eye on a prime time stage.

cam wasn't the "top dog" going into the combine. gabbert was. cam was at best 3rd going in. get your facts straight.
