The Walking Dead Season 2 News

Not much for now but here is the thread.

No one was more flabbergasted by the breakout success of AMC's The Walking Dead than Robert Kirkman, the man who wrote the graphic novels that inspired the zombie drama.

"I'm frankly shocked. You always hope this stuff will be successful, but never in a million years did I think the TV show would catch on to this degree," Kirkman tells TVGuide.com. "Now we've got Zippo lighters and mugs, T-shirts and Walking Dead-brand gum and perfume. It's definitely strange to be at the center of what, I guess, is a phenomenon. I'm quite enjoying it, but it does startle me at times."

Despite all the aforementioned products and a forthcoming video game inspired by the series, Kirkman remains primarily focused on writing the comics and shaping the second season of the show — the latter of which has seen Kirkman move to Los Angeles to work full-time in the writers' room.

While Kirkman can't divulge much about how Season 2 is shaping up, he's clearly very excited about seeing the gang travel.

"It's going to be intense," he says. "This world will get more dangerous. In the first season, there was a lot of time spent at that camp when they were fine. Now we've taken that away from them. They don't really have that little area they can go to and protect. ... We're really going to just expand the world a little bit. We're hitting the road, they're moving, and it's going to be a lot of cool stuff."

Kirkman also promises new faces this season, some of which comic readers will recognize and others they will not. "There's definitely going to be some new blood — some new victims for the zombies, if you will," Kirkman says. "It's important to me that there are these X-factor things thrown in where people that are familiar with the comic book don't really know where things are going to go. I want to keep people guessing as much as possible, and having new characters ... definitely adds to that."

Will some those familiar faces be the family at Hershel's farm and the katana-wielding Michonne, who Kirkman previously told us he wanted to feature in Season 2? "Things are shifting every day, but so far it's looks like we're going to get to at least half of that," Kirkman says coyly.

As for the core cast, Kirkman says the romantic triangle between Rick, his wife Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) and Rick's best friend and partner Shane (Jon Bernthal) will continue to be a key dynamic. But he also says that, because this season will be made up of a more traditional 13 episodes, the other members of the camp will work their way into the spotlight more than they have before.

Charlie Sheen: runs out of mansion as kids and two porn mamas are eaten in background

Zombie #1: tackles Sheen and begins to eat while other zombies join in

Zombie #2: rises from feeding frenzy and mutters "TIGER BLOOD" and face melts away

oh...and I second the "Can't Wait". Screw Bart Scott.

The first season on DVD is at Wal-Mart now for 20 bucks.

I've wanted to get into the show for some time now, and am considering buying it (or just watching illegally online...yeah, probably that) but I've had a hard time getting into any show since Lost broke my heart.

Come on Lost spin-off!

Just steal it. The production companies are making tons of money.

Interview with Robert Kirman

THR: Looking ahead to Season 2 of The Walking Dead, is there a staff of writers or are you using freelancers as had been speculated?

Kirkman: We have a full writing staff; there are three full-time staff writers and a freelancer: Evan Reilly (Rescue Me), Scott Gimple (FlashForward) and Angela Kang (Terriers) and one freelancer.

Darabont and [new executive producer] Glen Mazzara and myself are all working on the show. All that reporting about the writers being fired and going freelance, that was all something that never really happened.

Are they still looking at Halloween to bring this back? :(

That's the word right now. I hate they waited so long to bring it back, especially after such a short season last year.

I really want to see the prison but I doubt there will be time to get to that with season 2. The way I see it Herschel farm will be the bulk of season 2 and then find the prison in the season finale. For those of you that read the comics maybe have the last shot of season finale be them opening the doors to the cafeteria in the prison and seeing the three prisoners (I forgot their names) in there just hanging out.

    • 4610 total yards 27 total touchdowns 8 yards per attempt. Completion percentage was usual Cam ie mediocre or below at best at 57.7 and 86.2 passer rating. But the man scored points and moved the ball at will often. Compared to 2652 total yards 21 total touchdowns 6.3 yards per attempt completion % 60.9 82.2 passer rating. Let's just not do things like this. We can acknowledge Bryce improved (from realistically a bottom 5 QB) and hope he can work his way within the top 15 this season without dragging Cam Newton into it and unintentionally diminishing him. That's all I got to say. Carry on.
    • I personally think you are trying to talk yourself into circles here... It's ok to say Bryce played incredible the last 5 weeks... I know there are plenty of people on this board who desperately need the doom-and-gloom narrative, but I genuinely question how much NFL QB play some of these people really have watched when they still question him being the unquestioned starter for next year...  Again, that being said, no one is crowning him at all. I think Bryce is one of the best stories going into 2025 bc his season last year was so outlandishly unprecedented. It's totally fair to personally not believe in Bryce. Plenty of sports "journalists" need to write stories, and that's an easy narrative path... But I think that actual people in the know rank Bryce much higher. That's the fun thing about sports... we shall see!
    • Regardless of how we got here, any rational fan should be excited by how well Bryce played down the stretch. Anyone not happy about that level of play either doesn't know what they're looking at, or they're still trying to drive tired narratives. Obviously, Cam had an all-time rookie season, and I'm not putting the two in the same basket yet, but as someone who has watched every snap of Panthers football since the start of the new millennium (Im old), Bryce was playing at a higher level at the end of 2024 than Cam was at the end of 2012 (his 2nd season). Cam continued to develop into MVP form, something Bryce has to prove, but as someone who watched both (and will stan for Cam always), Bryce was playing at a higher level to end year 2 than Cam did.  Go watch the film if you dont believe me. None of that means anything for the future. But the people who said BY9 couldnt play in this league are wrong.   That being said, the only thing that matters is this year. #20 is perfectly fair IMO going into the season. I mean think about it, how would you rank him??!  His in-season turnaround is one of the wildest things I've ever seen... how do you rank a guy who looked like a massive bust in September and by January was consistently playing at a top 10 level? My excitement level is pretty damn high heading into this season. There were throws from the Chiefs game onward where Bryce had Drew Brees levels of anticipation. Im excited to see what he can do with a full deck on offense, something we really never gave Cam. Really hope and expect Bryce to move up this list this season.
