Grits in the South

My family has always honored this as a "Southern" rule for eating grits, and was curious if others practiced it.

We have always practiced that if you're eating grits alone as a meal, then sugar (we typically go with brown sugar & cinnamon) can go in it. If the grits are as a side with your meal, then salt, pepper, and butter go in it.

This is not an end all, be all rule by any means, but I find that I practice it religiously.

Anyone else?

Pepper, butter, little bit of salt. Red eye gravy if i'm having country ham with.

When i eat at waffle house i order both grits and hashbrowns with my bacon & eggs.

After i was kicked out of the house at 16, i pretty much lived on grits for awhile. My buddies started calling me that and it was one of my early nicknames.

G R I T S is also Girls Raised In The South, also great to eat. GritsRgreat.

    • Ehhhh except a lot of it was his refusal in college not to play hero ball.....  The two things he greatly improved at the NFL level were his accuracy on the run and learning he didn't have to take the deep shot every play.   That said when taking a massive boom or bust athlete at QB the most important thing is their work ethic/coachability/desire to improve

    • The new (released today) FOX ONE app will allow you access to watch your Local FOX Station - similar to how the Paramount Plus app allows you access to watch your local CBS station It'll cost you $20/month for the privilege, but if you're having trouble accessing the over-the-air antenna for FOX, this could be an option to consider the new ESPN app will give you access to ESPN content, but not to the local ABC affiliate. A reminder: if you currently get ESPN via some TV provider (cable, satellite, youtube, etc) then you should be able to use the new ESPN app via your provider login, no additional payment required
