Matt Moore...

In last year system i agree. In Chud's system who knows????

I still hold out hope that Jimmy can be a good NFL QB, but considering that the Coryell system put's a big emphasis on vertical passing, it's a pretty safe bet to say that Moore is much better suited for Chud's style of play.

Here is the way I look at Moore:

In the eight games he played in last year, he finished two of them. In those two games, he led his team to a win against the 49ers and an embarrassing loss the following week against the Rams. In those two games, he threw 27 incompletions compared to 51 completions, and threw for as many touchdowns (three), as Clausen threw all season.

So, something a lot of you have forgotten is that we pulled him for struggling early, and that he didn't have a whole lot of time to do anything. He couldn't get into a rhythm last year. Is he the quarterback of the future for Carolina? Maybe, but why should he NOT be given another chance? It's him, or a washed-up vet like McNabb or Palmer, or another rookie (whomever that may be).

Washed up or not, Palmer at least would be a huge upgrade over Matt Moore and instantly would become arguably the most talented quarterback we've *ever* had.

That being said, I don't see us acquiring Palmer and I do see Moore beating out any of the likely vets as well as Jimmy and/or a rookie for the starting spot.. but I've been wrong about these things before, so.

Here's why I don't think we should trot Moore out there to start (unless it's as a stop gap until something better comes along in 1-2 years)...

And I will quote from one Ferris Bueller:

"If things don't change for him, he's gonna marry the first girl he lays."

That was in reference to Cameron, the off-beat loser who according to Ferris will fall for the first girl he has sexy time with. The same can be said for this fanbase. Sure, Jake had his moments but he was never top tier. When his skills went south, we all hungered for a top tier QB. Then along came Matt Moore and he looked...good. GOOD, not great. So this fanbase instantly fell in love with this guy who was nothing more than "not Jake". But to our fans, all of the sudden we had this amazing QB who'd take us to the promise land, when in fact, he's just a good QB. Nothing more, nothing less.

The hype that was created around him came due in part because the fans were like Cameron, tired of being a loser and got a taste of some success and fell in love. Moore can have a great game from time to time, but he himself is not great. If he were, this thread would not be here and we'd all be talking about how many games we'll win this year. It's time we get a great QB for the first time in franchise history. It won't happen this year, sadly, but if Moore is made the man, and gets the contract to match, the history of Panther mediocrity will only continue.

He's good, guys...but you have to just say no.

Good sounds better than St. Pierre, Jimmy Clausen, and a first round #1 pick rookie who will never amount to his draft status.

Idk just from the way we've seen Moore can play I think his ceiling could be higher than Jake's. Maybe not Peyton Manning which everyone wants, but it would be better to play that kind of talent that's on the roster than chance 1st round picks who aren't TheReadDeal.

Not too start a whole big thing but what is this thinking that Moore on equal footing with Jimmy (both learing a new system both having starting exp. both getting the same amount of rep.) That Moore would beat Jimmy out???

Moore is better than Jimmy at literally everything in life. Height, arm strength, balls, anything related to anything Moore is better than Jimmy. Then combine that fact with the fact that the offense seems to be tailored to fit Moore's style of play and it is common sense that he'd beat out Jimmy.

You mean average? Sounds about right for this pussified organization. You should try to get a job with the Cats, you'd fit right in.

Yeah he was just average before this year

In last year system i agree. In Chud's system who knows????

Everyone knows

I'll see him as a Hasselbeck, you'll see him as a Brady. And we'll agree to disagree.

He's good, but not good enough to take us to where we SHOULD go as a winning franchise. And that is straight facts, homie.

I don't see him as Brady one bit and I think he has more talent than Hasselbeck. I just don't think you can call him average based on what he's done in the past, which is what you were referring to.

2-1 as a rookie.

Then 4-1 with a 4:1 TD:Int ratio is not average by any means but let the hate flow through you sir.
