Two Judges Down, Still No Doty: NFL Case Reassigned

Looks like the players antitrust case still hasn't reached Doty. Interesting. Doty has generally sided with the players... Wonder if a different judge might do differently?

The case first went to U.S. District Judge Richard Kyle in Minnesota last Friday. Kyle recused himself for unspecified reasons and it was reassigned to Judge Patrick Schiltz. On Monday, Schiltz cited a conflict of interest because he represented the NFL in several cases as a private practice attorney. The case then went to Judge Susan Richard Nelson.

Honestly, it doesn't matter. At this level, anything that gets ruled is going to get appealed by either side to the next level of court.

The longer it takes, the less likely this will be resolved in a way that keeps them from losing fans.

The ruling still matters even if it's pending appeal, but what all of this judge switching really means is it will take more time to get things rolling... which is what you meant by the later part of your post I think. :)

The "preliminary hearing" on the injunction requested by the players isn't set until April 6th.

I wouldn't put any bets on this getting done prior to the draft.

I would be surprised if an injunction would ever be granted. Injunctions are only granted when their is no there is no legal remedy meaning no $ remedy. This case is all about $, so it will be best for the players to delay this for as long as they can.
