Blaine Gabberts Mega thread

According to the AP, Coach Rivera was at the Pro Day

The crowd at Missouri's pro day Thursday included Denver Broncos vice president John Elway and coach John Fox, New York Jets coach Rex Ryan, John Harbaugh of the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis and Ron Rivera of the Carolina Panthers, who have the draft's top choice.

The thing that bothers me with Gabbert is his college career and abilities remind me A LOT of Jimmy's. I don't trust his decision making and just like Jimmy, he looks great in practice or when there is no pressure but come gametime it's a different story.

It's almost eerie how much the comments about Gabbert sound so much like what people were saying about Clausen last year.

Local paper liked his performance :).

Doesn't mention Rivera in attendance.

There was no shortage of NFL personnel on hand. Head coaches in attendance included Cincinnati's Marvin Lewis, Denver's John Fox, San Francisco's Jim Harbaugh, Tennessee's Mike Munchak and the New York Jets' Rex Ryan.

Rob Rang weighs in. But it appears he wasn't there and based this off of twitter and the AP report.

As expected, the Missouri Pro Day was well attended by NFL decision-makers, including Carolina head coach Ron Rivera, Jets' head coach Rex Ryan, Ravens' head coach John Harbaugh, 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh, Bengals' head coach Marvin Lewis, and Jaguars' head coach Jack Del Rio.

Shoddy reporting job IMO. And I usually really like Rang a lot.

Mentions Rivera but I am pretty sure he cut and pasted that from the AP report

Not sure that Rang was or wasn't there, but he is quoting people who were. The fact he mentions Aldon Smith at the end makes me think he was tho.

So far it seems that most people agree he had a good pro day.

Is that really surprising? Heh.

Not at all. But again everyone is hedging their bets. It is like they aren't sure what to say (just like Cam's pro day BTW). I stick by what I said earlier. He didn't wow or disappoint. He was about what everyone expected him to be.

:o

I will say this, whoever the huddle thinks we are interested in will probably not be drafted. Happens every year.

not necessarily true. 4 years ago i suggested we draft Jon Beason and Dwayne Jarrett, only the sequence was in reverse (I had Jarrett 1st and Beason in the 2nd)

    • No one's saying LaMelo has no blame we're responding to you acting like he's the reason they lost. The scapegoating and blaming the teams woes on his personality is where it's like Cam Newton all over again. It was a failure on multiple fronts and primarily Lee's. Dude said ON AIR pregame that they had to protect the paint and if that was his gameplan going in he couldn't have botched it more. As the commentators said Ball's a rhythm guy and Orlando was preventing him for getting any kind of flow going. I'm a normie watching on TV and said they needed to bait them into fouling to combat that. They didn't even try until the 2nd half when it was too late. I think it's fair to expect the star to overcome whatever but LaMelo was not the problem in that game and he's not what is holding the team back. He's the only reason they're flirting with being a great team. I kinda put the center play on Lee too. Moose is great until he's up against a big who can body him. We've always known that and that's what Kalkbrenner is for. I don't know if it would have changed much but Kalkbrenner should have had more minutes than him.  And moving forward with the center position, I just think it's the time to trade Diabate while his stock's high and that's not an indictment of his game. He's like an evolved combination of Biyombo and PJ. He's a great rim protector and the strength issue is just what you're going to have to deal with if you want that. But Kalkbrenner is perfectly capable of protecting the rim and we gotta get away from the undersized centers or it'll always be a problem for us.
    • Honestly its why that Jalen Coker grab was a big deal.  I'd been warming up to the idea of a sadiq pick and was adamantly against a receiver...but this altered my train of thought.  I mean For instance, Cade Otton signed for 3 yr 30 mil contract...thats not dramatically different than the rookie payscale for #19 (4 year 20 mil with 5th year option), however you KNOW otton is decent...no clue if Sadiq will be anything.
