Hurney, Rivera Looking like IDIOTS

1) They didn't go to Mallett's but brought him in. Sent Shula instead, and Mallett was at least at one point still in consideration.

2) ESPN did claim Rivera was there at one point, but that has since been retracted. Perhaps something happened?

3) We were surely in attendance even if not with our big guns.

4) We've got a private workout with the guy on saturday.

5) Maybe they already decided they wanted or didn't want him and this is all just a formality either way.

I don't doubt it. I have heard all the crazy praise he's getting. I'm pissed that all I've seen of it is a 30 second clip while ESPn gave me the lovely chance to sit through 8 hours of Auburn pro day. >: |

I think we saw what he did and I'm sure the Panthers know how he looks. I almost wonder if they heard he was throwing to a bunch of "no name" WRs and assumed it wouldn't be worth going to in person and could just watch film so they scheduled a private workout with Ricky Proehl running routes instead.

Might want to look at http://blogs.nfl.com/2011/03/17/gabbert-answers-questions-about-accuracy/?module=HP_headlines and http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/don_banks/03/17/blaine-gabbert-pro-day/index.html#ixzz1GtfZ6rzc if you haven't yet. first is Gil Brandt going crazy over a guy he spent the last month downplaying, second is Don Banks with some comments from OCs that were there.

    • How to read DBs and their body language. How to use small movements to get open in tight coverage. How to recognize tendencies by certain players. I remember watching a special a DB gave about how he could tell where a particular WR was going to move by the way he tilted his shoulder pre snap. It was fascinating to listen to the stuff these guys could see and react to. Its one thing to do in practice against 3s and 4s. Its another to do in real games against starter level coverage players and schemes. That's where I think we'll miss AT most.
    • Dan gonna be on cracked thin ice in season.  People still somehow erase he was Fitterer's right hand man.  Fitterer was making decisions off of info coming up to him.   Dan painted as the random mythical creature that some how disagreed w/ everything being done.  Canales had zero resume.  You can't keep giving a coach time when there is no reason to.  If things go bad this year.....you can't pretend like you just hired Dan next year.   The window to move on from Bryce was last year.  He botched it.  Now, Bryce he is tied to Bryce.
    • Agreed.  I'm not sure where people are getting the idea that Dan and Dave are getting a restart button if this year crashes and burns.  Should they?  Maybe just to rebuild the reputation of the org, depending on how bad it really is.  But all indications are Tepper throws them out of a helicopter before any of that.  Alright now who wants the job next?
