Minorities now the Majority in Charlotte

Greg Johnson and Judy Galindo have helped change the face - and complexion - of Charlotte.

Johnson is an African-American marketing executive who moved back to his home state last summer. Galindo is a native of Colombia who came to launch a Spanish-language paper last fall.

They're part of an influx of blacks and Hispanics who have accelerated the growth and diversity of Charlotte and North Carolina. So much so that over the past decade, Charlotte's non-Hispanic white population dipped below 50 percent for the first time.

It now accounts for 45 percent of city residents, according to the 2010 Census. That's down from 55 percent just 10 years ago.

As of the census[4] of 2000, there were 19,635 people, 8,000 households, and 5,592 families residing in the county. The population density was 44 people per square mile (17/km²). There were 9,722 housing units at an average density of 22 per square mile (8/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 97.63% White, 0.83% Black or African American, 0.27% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.45% from other races, and 0.59% from two or more races. 1.35% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Thought I might add to this thread...This is Madison County NC....VERY SAD!

The funniest part of all this is the cyclical racism that's going on. Many black people don't like mexicans and I hear complaints all the time that the mexicans are "taking over the neighborhood" and other blatant racist comments like you used to hear from whites.

Now THAT's paying it forward hahaha

    • Sometimes, reddit actually does deliver... There's always one, though...
    • So after watching (or tried to watch) Night 1 of Wrestlemania 42, I concluded on a few things: 1) WWE partnering with ESPN/Disney is by far the worst move WWE could had made. They either needed to stay on Peacock or simply switched over to Netflix for all of their PLEs because tonight's broadcast on the ESPN + app was absolutely terrible. I couldn't go 5 seconds without a buffer due to everyone trying to stream the show at once and you would think that WWE and ESPN would realize this before going into Wrestlemania weekend but yet still allowed this issue to keep occuring. Not only that but I backed out of the show and tried to see if that fixed the issue but realized that because of the buffering, it basically "paused" the show and I ended up being several minutes behind so once I got back in, the match had already ended and the magic was ruined by their stupid issue. 2) The ads.. the motha f'n ads... If it ain't greedy enough for both WWE and ESPN to steal our money but to force us to watch 5 minutes of ads after each match is absolutely ridiculous. You already have our money with all the streaming services and also with ticket sales, and with merchandise and the advertising for companies on their turnbuckles and ring mats... But yeah, let's throw in even more trash commercials to force it down our throats. I get they do it for RAW too on Netflix but is sad that both streaming services force live events to have commercials when really it should be commercial free. 3) Really, in the end, it was a lackluster 1st night and pretty predictable. For them to hype this show this much, I expected better. Literally, the only surprises for Night 1 was Paige returning and maybe the return of Bron Breaker but outside of that, it was pretty bad.    Ok... I am done ranting. Maybe I will feel better after a good night's sleep 😂
