it's ok to talk about what we can do with the picks we'll get when we trade peppers, but we got to get gross signed to a long term deal then tag pep before we get all excited about who we'll get with the picks...don't u think

Agreed it's looking more and more like pep walks and gross gets tagged.

We need defense. Concentrate on quality defensive players in both the draft and free agency. I don't think we need WR help this year IF we can get Jake (or whoever starts) to execute QB fundamentals a little better. After defense, I would like to see the O line bolstered with some depth. Nothing will work offensively if our 'guns' don't have adequate blocking..

Kevin williams, Suggs (plays OLB/de) both very well at that, (both from 2003), Ngata, Williams, (2006) Umenyiora (2nd round 03)

Will smith has had a good career with 36.5 sacks, this season being a down one for him.

Tamba Hali has been good so far (he had a down year this year (he switch sides on the dline) Before this season he actually had more sacks then williams.)

Gaines adams has had a good start to his career.

I'm not counting him because he was drafted in 2002, but Peppers has dominated in the last 6 years as well.

"I think we should draft RB in 1st since we only have Williams and Stewart.... could use a good back up!"

With Williams and Stewart onboard, I wouldn't use a draft pick to back them up. Fred Taylor was just released by the Jags, although he's got some mileage on him, he may benefit from being a backup only at this point in his career. He may warrant a look, if he's not too pricey..

I hope I am color blind, and this is written in Green.

Also, funny to think that we are all very sure of the upcoming 1st for Pep.

He will be tagged, but there may not be tons of teams burning up the phones in Hurneys office. Pep would have to agree to the contract of the new team for this to work.

This is a very slippery situation.

I agree somewhat. I am just B/S'n.

However- Last off season WE KNEW we needed to get some line help to make up for Jenkins, well we are sitting here saying the same sh*t.

Plus now we have to get a good DE.

The front office has a habbit of being too "re-active" in stead of "pro-active"

Its like we are always just 1 step behind. They need to get aggressive this offseason and load us out.

last season we knew we needed help at DT, WR, RB (foster had to be going), and especially OL which was the biggest concern.

I would say they addressed the offensive needs pretty aggressively. they brought in how many big OL FAs to find the best ones and they also made that monster trade (by panther's standards, anyway) for Otah. picking moose back up and hackett were no small moves either.

i just believed that last was the year that they wanted to take care of the offense and they did. Now this year is when they address the defense. I have little doubt that they will approach the defense this year the way they did the offense last year.

    • The Bucs waived shilo sanders after he got ejected.
    • I'm just tired of ppl saying he's so accurate and then have to see recievers slow down to recieve the ball, ruining any chance at YAC
    • Some people will really look at stuff like this and say "no more excuses" but then make excuses to try and explain away the validity of big-time throws. 🙃   Back on topic though, as I mentioned in the other AT thread earlier, I hope that the team is still exploring the deal. If the Vikings want the Panthers to take on some of the salary, then it had better be at worst a 4th-round pick (though I imagine Dan angling for a 3rd). If they're willing to take on all of it, then maybe at worst a 5th. Tough pill to swallow, giving up a 4th for a 35yr old WR, but if MIN believes they can have similar success behind McCarthy then it could be a smart deal for them. Hell, if AT has any gas in the tank and gives them a 1yr sweetheart deal to close out at home, even better for Minnesota. Yea, Bryce loses his best and most reliable WR. Hunter Renfrow though isn't what I would call a huge step down though (if he's as advertised throughout camp), and it gives more reps to TMac + XL + Coker. This season is all about continued development and answering some of the looming questions (Is Bryce the guy? Is Evero the DC going fwd? How do the young WRs develop? How long does it take this defense to bounce back from being historically awful?).
