Character matters to me and to the Panthers. The flags around Shockey and Newton are on two entirely different planes.

Shockey has attitude issues, but no history of arrests or legal troubles.

If you want to argue that Newton's character issues are minor and/or behind him, you might get somewhere. Suggesting that character issues don't matter anymore is off target.

Character still matters, and will for as long as Jerry Richardson owns the team (and probably beyond).

Also feel it's unfair but mallet does not see as much negative light as cam does.

We are not using our number one pick on Shockey, we are not paying Shockey 50+ mil, and we are not counting on Shockey to save our franchise.
