On The Beat: Panthers No.1; Joseph Person Prediction

Same here. Too many people made up their minds a long time ago that they hate Cam Newton no matter what he has done or will do. The irony is that, if Cam had committed to their favorite school, those same people would be defending him instead of bashing him right now.

Whats crazy is the only somewhat positive comment gets the negative rating

In other words, you need proof that Cam's coaches and teammates are telling the truth, but you have no problem believing that bad stuff that his unknown teammates are saying, if there really is any, is accurate.

The opinions of him being disingenuous are coming from scouts, not teammates.

I haven't actually seen any criticism from Newton's teammates. I've seen it referenced on here, but have yet to see any evidence of it. If it exists, it's a big red flag, but I've yet to see confirmation that it exists, and I'm not counting it in my evaluation until I do.

What I actually said was that Clausen's teammates supported him too, despite the fact that Clausen received similar criticism from Nawrocki. That, plus if you've ever played on a team, you know that teammates stick together.

You know, just for once, you might want to consider responding to what I actually wrote instead of responding to your own spin on it :nonod:

And please guys, stop with the "everybody just hates him" stuff. It sounds really dumb.

You don't have to personally hate a guy to think he's not worth the number one pick.

I think there is nothing wrong with people not wanting him as a number 1 pick. While I disagree, I surely understand the sentiment and can respect people who feel that way.

On the other hand, there are really people out there who dislike Newton for whatever reason. Much of it isn't reasoned or rational necessarily. It reminds me of how much many Republican's hated Clinton. Sure there were some reasons for it and some of it was justified but the extent of the hatred far outweighed the issues or concerns. The same with Newton. The vehemence of the anger and negativity in some cases far outweighs the extend of the true concerns.

I am not putting you in that category but don't see you on the fringe like some people here and elsewhere. But to deny that it is there and somewhat irrational is also pretty stupid as well.

I haven't seen anybody on here that struck me as sounding like they hated him personally.

Are there people who take sports too seriously? You can answer that question by listening to WFNZ for about fifteen minutes. But I can't think of anyone on here that sounds to me like they'd take it personally if the Panthers drafted Newton.

There are people who may just hate Newton. But none of the people often named to be that on this forum - myself, Mr. Scot, and yes, TRD - personally hate Newton. We just do not agree with the evaluations you guys have made and would rather go in a different direction...

That apparently qualifies as "hate" for some.

(especially if you make "In Living Color" jokes)

If you guys don't hate him, then stop arguing against him so damn much. We get it already.

Anyway, it seems to me that the main difference between the people who want to draft a QB and the people who don't, is that the people who don't are scared of drafting a guy who is not 100% ready to start on day 1.

I just don't think that its neccessary for a QB to start right away to justify the pick. If the guy takes a season to develop, then so be it. As long as it turns out to be a long term investment, that's fine by me. I doubt Aaron Rodgers was ready to win a Superbowl in his first or second year, so why should we expect any other QB to do it?

if the so called "pro cam" people stop posting about how much they love him, then I doubt the so called "Anti Cam" people would have much to say about him either... the reality is the threads are back and forth, and if one side stopped posting it's likely the other would, too.

LOL, I meant to put a smiley in there so you would know I'm joking. Then again, TRD seems to have made it his life's mission to convince us that Cam is not worth it. I don't think he has missed any of these threads yet.

We get your opinion too. Does that mean you should stop posting it?

Tell you what. Try reading here (link). Then come back and tell me if you think who the Panthers pick in the draft is important enough to register on my emotions.

And again, young prospects? We already have that. I'd rather use the #1 pick on someone I think is worth it who can help right away at a spot of need.

None of the current QBs fall into that category.

The difference is a lot of that is pure media speculation. Every time I have seen or heard an actual teammate or coach of Cam's asked about it, they always have his back on these issues.

I mean, the guy is a bit of a diva. So what? So is Tom Brady.

I trust Hurney and Rivera to be able to determine if this stuff is true. Rivera is a hard-nosed genuine type of guy; a no-bullpoo type of coach. He'll be able to determine if these issues have any truth to them or not.

DONOT BELIEVE IT..http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/blog/dr_saturday/post/when-draftniks-write-dumb-things-cam-newton-is?um=ncaaf-wp366
