Down to three guys???

That's all I'm trying to say...I think they are doing their homework but I'm certain that they know within a few guys who they ultimately will select.

Don't get me wrong...I respect Mr Scot and his opinion but I simply don't agree with him on this. A lot can change in four weeks but they have to prepare for an entire draft...not just the first pick.

And there'll be plenty of debate about it, more so at the top than the later levels.

Given the importance of this pick and the fact that there's no clear number one, I wouldn't assume everyone involved in the process is on the same page at this point.

Who knows? The differences of opinion might be pretty big.

Sad. It is ultimately not up to us if we trade or not, if nobody asks for it, then how could we get rid of it? Maybe throw out as many names as possible for the first potential pick and see if anybody bites.

Just because it is not up to us doesn't mean I won't be disappointed.

I will be disappointed if we can't con another team out of at least a second rounder. How's that? I don't expect a trade down, but I don't think it is completely impossible. Picking a player at #1 overall in this draft and not being able to trade will bring disappointment but I am not trying to blame anyone. A QB sounds silly to me unless there is a vet we like. Clausen could always be given a fair shot but I think he would benefit from sitting behind a vet as well.

My point is: We cannot initiate any trades. As soon as we do, the value drops too much. People want a first, a second and next years first for some reason, there is no way we would get that unless we trade out of the top 20. Best we can hope for is a top 10 team wants the #1 pick and will give us their 2nd this year as well. Other than that, this years first pick isn't worth much. So dont expect a trade, if we do, we should feel fortunate. If we don't, well if you want to be disappointed, thats on you.

Our best chance for a good trade would have been the 33rd pick that we don't have anymore. Most likely, there would have been more than one team willing to trade up to 33, so we could have taken the best offer. At #1, we will be lucky to get even one offer, and I seriously doubt it will be anything like these fantasy trade scenarios that people have been bringing up.

1. Marcell Dareus

2. Patrick Peterson

3. Blaine Gabbert

Now you are talking sense this line up is a smart lineup

and will do the most for our team. This was thought out

using your head and not your heart based on hype.

Dareus then Peterson then Gabbert would give us

instant improvement.

    • Now now now, I wouldn't say there is no logic, but there's just not a lot of in-depth thought put into Barnwell's  "analysis." Now to be fair to him (and other national writers), pre-season team rankings are basically clickbait. And...Barnwell, himself, said that "there's a lot of projection here." He basically admits that he doesn't know how the hell things are going to turn out with our receiver group. He also said that "I find myself" more intrigued by Coker than Legette; that does not mean that he said that fans should be, or that Coker will even be better than Legette (regardless of ESPN's per-route-run stat). So, yeah, Barnwell said some things, but even he has to basically admit that he doesn't know how bad or good that our playmakers will be in 2025.  Overall, what Barnwell is basically thinking is that the Panthers have gotten worse at the offensive skill positions, and baked into that is that others have gotten better. That's the argument in July (meaning, please don't give this any more weight than it's due). I would personally be surprised (not shocked) if we end up worse than the Titans, Pats and Giants at least. Once you throw in the Bills, Giants, Jets, Steelers, and even the Chargers, I personally think there are several teams' skill groups that may end up ranked lower than ours by the end of 2025.  @kungfoodudeis one of my dudes, but like others he is over the tipping point. He's had enough. Seeing is believing. I will say this though: Barnwell's piece is less about logic than just good ol' opinion. And to be honest, he might as well be a Huddler throwing out sh¡t in the summer based upon nothing but good feels or bad feels.  Our offense as a whole (just like any other team's) is going to depend upon the play of the O-line and especially the QB. How you can even rank the skill positions without expressly baking those two things in the cake is beyond me. I would dare say that that's not even logical.
    • Football is not the professional sport where timidness and apprehension are justly rewarded.
    • Bryce Young had a super high floor definitely at least won't be a bust safe pick we allegedly had seen in some time.......and went on to have one of the worst rookie seasons of all time.  They are all lotto picks.  And that is especially true for whatever they will be day 1 in the NFL.  I don't think Tmac is a sure thing year 1.  It's not like we watched him do his thing in the SEC.  He was a PAC12 guy.  I'm sure it will take time
