Brady vs NFL- what you need to know

Recommended Posts

they are not going to get a preliminary injunction. that is a pipe dream for the players at best. Now i aint a judge by any means but from the articles i have read its rarely used and is the kin to doing heart surgery with a sword.

Lets hope for the fans sake and the sake of the game in general you are right. Her saying no will force the players back to the table immediately

I suspect she will not give an injunction to the players but tell both sides to negootiate in good faith. Shhe could alsol move up the trial and go that route. In either case the players will have to negotiate in better faith than they have which is to make no concessions. And the NFL will have to open the books a little wider.

I don't think so. They legally never had to in the first place and I feel the Judge is going to flat out tell the NFLPA that. They gave them the books all the way back to the previous CBA and that is enough. The thing is the owners aren't talking about right now being an issue, they have proven this current way of doing business will wreck the league years down the road.

See these players only give a damn about themselves and not former players, not the league, no one but themselves. The owners will be here decades from now (at least most of them) and it is their responsibility to have a league down the road.

The players need it stuck in their asses hard so this bull poo doesn't happen again.

Players like Brady, Brees, Manning et al. They don't want a salary cap, they don't a draft and they don't want restrictions. They want the market wide open and all money coming in now with any benefits current or in the future to current or former players to be extra on top of the pie.

The NFLPA knew what they were doing when they decertified and sued. Their demi-god Gene Upshaw told them to never give back anything and if they ever lose the salary cap to never give that back either. Remember their is still another lawsuite filed by the NFLPA where they are accusing the owners of colussion from RFA not being signed in 2010 offseason.

The players have no intention right now of compromising. They want it all and that is what they are trying for.

She will simply say that all of that will come out as part of discovery for the lawsuit so if they do it voluntarily and negotiate a settlement it will forestall the lawsuit. Since the information will come out anyway, it is in their own self interest to use it now. Doesn't mean they have to do the 10 years the players are asking for but likely more than they have shown to this point. Perhaps they will settle for the 5 years the league has already conceded.

The draft is good for the league too.

But minus the draft and salary cap, they get more freedom and (in theory) more money.

They're not concerned with "the good of the league".

Well players like Brady,Manning, and Brees would get more money. Players like Brad Hoover would get there walking papers to help support the "stars".

Rookies could have a FA period and go where they wanted, rather than giving each team an equal chance.

Like above that would help the top 10 but hurt players like Capt. He may have never would have got a chance if not for the draft.

The author of the article disagrees with you on that point:

"A preliminary injunction would restore the NFL and bring the parties back to the bargaining table. It would substantially increase the likelihood of games being played this fall."

curious because I don't know...I hear about this owner and that owner and I never see Paul Allan's name in the mix. As clearly the richest owner in the league...what does he say about all the salary stuff etc?

    • Although, I will admit there is a big caveat to this game. Packers coming off an emotionally big game against Rodgers on the road in Primetime and a MNF matchup with the Eagles the following week, it is a prime opportunity for a let down game with them looking ahead. Which if it's the case, I think we still lose, but only something like 24-21.
    • We lose in a non competitive game 38-20. Bryce doesn't look much better than Dalton did and all the people this week saying "see we told you he's great, look how bad this team is without Bryce" blame it on the OL injuries and/or his ankle and already start laying the groundwork for that being why he is still one of the worst starting QB's the rest of the season and why he deserves another year, if not even an outright extension. And no, that's not what I'm rooting for, just what I objectively think will happen, just as I've been saying for a month would happen once we got past the cupcake portion of the schedule.
    • Miami will be their first real test. Even a close loss and I would be content with that at this point. Brandon Miller is probably gonna be out a few weeks with a partial shoulder dislocation. With that being said, the rookies are really impressing me.
