49ers had interest in Clausen...last year

for the 13th overall pick... in last years draft.

This is just a reminder that, just because you read it, doesn't make it true. In fact, the local beat writers are used by the Front Office's to set the smoke screens up! If I were hearing from my local beat writers that we wanted Cam Newton leading up to the draft, I would almost certainly expect the opposite. Since we are picking #1 overall, I am not sure what to believe. But, it could force a team to trade up with us and take Cam Newton so we can get extra picks. Just saying. I have complete confidence in our FO, I have full belief that they know what they are doing. Not to bust anyone's bubble, but we likely could be generating interest for our top pick. That is all.

That wasn't the slight bit funny. You could have just entitled this thread "smoke screen" and saved a ton of people from doing cartwheels in their head.

It wasn't meant to be funny. Simply tired of all the "We are going to draft Cam, it's a lock" comments. Need to Smack some people back to reality. It's not a lock until we hear it from Hurney's mouth.

Next time you mistitle a thread like that you'll be smacked back to reality

I think it was mistitled. Since you will be banned for a week the next time... I don't give a fug what you call it.

No use in threatening. This is one of only a handful of thread's I have made in years.. it won't hurt my feelings. I mainly come on to read the threads, and I can do that whether I am banned or not.

    • When you analyze what Tulsky has done the only positive was getting Ehlers, he blew the Gentzel signing, whiffed on Rantanan, signed Miller who is a terrible fit, never addressed the goalie problem, signing a declining Freddie instead, and wasted a ton of cap space this year with inaction. My verdict is he might be great at analytics but sucks as a general manager.
    • If you think the refs we have are bad, you probably don't remember just how bad it got the last time they used replacement refs... including an incident of a Packers fan ref massively influencing a game. The NFL, when you consider all the other things tied to it like TV rights, betting, stadiums (construction, ticket prices, heck even parking and concessions), plus merchandizing, is probably a trillion dollar industry. Give the refs what they want, pay them and let's get back to having games.
    • Probably.  You never know.  It always amazes me to think how many times they miss on first rounders (about 50%) and the number of misses increases every round.  Then there are UDFAs that make the team every year.  I guess we are always looking for the next gem--but most never make it.  Funny, I was at dinner last night and there was this big guy with a WCU shirt on.  I recognized him--that OT from Western that we gave a tryout last year or the year before--Smith.  He explained his experience--just wanted to see how he could hold up against the big boys.  He played a preseason game and was terrible, fwiw.
