I do not want Newton, Do you?

I'm using facts and my facts are more accurate and applicable than yours.

Factually, he's more similar to Russell

Trd you are losing alot of respect with this arguement. I've always been on the otherside of the debate with you,but this is a new low. I thought you were alot more intelligent than this. Comparing newton to russell is as abstract as comparing newton to rodgers. Yes they have big arms, like newton and rodgers have good moblity, beyond that they approach the game diffrent in almost every area.

I'm just having fun with you clowns.

But at least you got the point. The comparisons were just as stupid, yet people still cite that article likes it's gospel. He's nothing like Rodgers, just like he's nothing like Russell.

You are a lot less intelligent than I thought you were if you thought I was seriously trying to draw a comparison with those limited stats, and that's saying a lot.

I understand the whole risk factor thing especially at number 1 but one thing I can't understand is why so many people are worried about us being "set back" when we are already back. We won 2 games, sub par offense and are without question the worst team in our division. We are young, with talent but rebuilding start with the most important position in football.

He is a winner/leader, wants to be great (sports icon) not average ala Fox era, and Media & big game pressure doesn't affect his play he seems to thrive off of it. Could see him being the face of the franchise lifting a small market team ala Lebron did in Cleveland. Is a REAL dual threat QB can beat you with his arm and legs. He has talent that is not as raw as many claim not the finished product but his question marks can be fixed if he is willing to put in the work. A very high ceiling higher than anyone else in this draft imo. All of those quality's with our need at QB is why I want Newton.

EXACTLY.

I don't care what he did when he was 19 yrs old. Stupid yes, Label as a troublemaker, bad influence NO.

This guy wants to win. Wants to learn all about being a Pro QB. Take a chance. Worse case Scenario he flops as a QB and we convert him to a Tight End and give the helm back to Clausen.

Too Much Upside to pass on.

We hired a QB coach. Lets give him something exciting to work with.

Did it make you feel more intelligent than me because i didnt put a space between a and lot?(i forgot the ' in didnt you want to flag me for that 2?)

No, that wasn't it.

We would have to start a new thread to list all the reasons, but I'm glad you drew the conclusion that both comparisons based on statistical analysis were wrong but I'm concerned you couldn't detect the sarcasm in the posts.

I'm also glad you didn't spell it "allot" so I guess that earns you SOME points.

Do you really not understand why they used the last 6 games for that analysis??

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
