I do not want Newton, Do you?

Cam Newton will not be successful in the NFL because he won't be able to run wild on these defenses. I also love how everyone speculates that the coach "told him to run" and all the runs are designed run plays. It is as though all of you making these remarks were on Auburn's coaching staff last season. Bottom line, I want a Peyton Manning or Brady type of quarterback and that is not what we'll get with Newton.

so I'm guessing the poll results aren't going the way you anticipated?

No, I stated that I was surprised to find out how many people actually are in favor of Newton and this just proves that more than half of this board is on the Newton bandwagon. When speculation first arose in that we would take Newton, I thought for sure that everyone on the board would be against it but that obviously isn't the case. I'd rather have someone like A.J. Green or Marcell Dareus. The best-case scenario in my opinion would be just to trade down and get more picks.

Would you take a risk on Newton if there is a new rookie wage scale implemented before the draft?

Teeray wasn't a fan then. He didn't know Moore was brought in at the end of a half with 1 second left to throw a Hail Mary that got intercepted in the endzone.

He doesn't understand that Fox didn't have an extension and was a lame duck and how that could have affected the team. He didn't know that our team was built to run and our best run blocker didn't play this year thus fugging up the whole offense. He doesn't know anything about our team other than what stat sheets say because he wasn't a fan. He's a Cam fan and nothing more.

You can't expect him to know much of anything besides what ESPN says in it's stat line

LOL. You guys are worse than I thought. "Oh no he only had 3TDs with 4 picks cause one was a hail mary. Therefore he was WAY better than you thought Teeray!! You must be a troll"

I mean can you not see how that sounds?? You guys got me!! I forgot about a hail mary pass 4 years ago. I am obviously a troll.

I'm speaking from a fan standpoint and I don't really mind the money aspect of it. It is expected that we are going to pay a lot because after all we do have the top overall pick. Anyone that goes in this position is going to get compensated like the top overall pick, but I do not want to get rid of Clausen this early in his career. We need to solidify many other aspects of our football team before any quarterback will be productive. One bad season and many people are quick to write off Clausen. The fact of the matter is, without a foundation we won't be successful.

BTW did you take psychology?? You calling me a troll makes perfect sense now.

The reasoning mentioned above is childlike. Children, particularly very young ones who are powerless and inarticulate, often resort to name calling as a desperate measure for need fulfillment. Since they are totally dependent upon their parents for their well being and pleasures they feel small, powerless and weak. The state of dependency is so distasteful even to young people that when their wishes are unmet they resort to their arsenal of temper tantrums, crying, flailing, screaming and name calling. These are extreme reactions to a major power imbalance.

I never called you a troll, I just said you are here for Cam Newton only.

You going to extremes to defend doesn't do you any favors.

Just admit it, you looked up stats about Moore and didn't care what context they were in. It doesn't matter to you that he played 3 playoff teams (1 resting starters) but went 1-1 against the other two. It doesn't matter that everyone and their mothers who were Panther fans back then knew that the refs screwed us so bad in the Dallas game that even Big Ben thought it was too rough.

You understand a stat sheet and nothing else about the game. You are not a troll, you are a fan of a college football player, maybe a relative I don't know.

Just thought of something.

What if there is no season due to the lockout. Say we do take newton with our first pick this year, so we end up with the first pick next year too.

We could hold that pick ransom for someone to trade up and take andrew luck... there's got to be SOME team that would want him, i mean he's suppose to be the best thing since jesus invented sliced bread, we could definitely trade down next year.

I am a fan of a lot of college players. But since you saw how silly your argument had become you decided to turn it on its head and change the narrative. That is okay. You are smart. If you are losing a debate, change the debate.

So back to my original point. Why are you using random stats from 2009 okay but people analyzing Cam's last 6 games stupid and cherry picking??

Remember when you were trying to be cute earlier and said

I'm making a new discussion, picking and choosing stats I like to prove an overall point

You might as well have been talking about you and Moore.

Your forgetting one thing, College ball will go on. Luck lost 3 out of 5 Olineman and Harbaugh, as well as some assitants (not to mention Whalen, Fleener and Baldwin his #1, 2, and 3 recievers). He could have a year like Locker had and bye bye goes Lucks draft stock. This is why I seriously wondered if he hates us.

Teeray- Get in here and prove your fandom bro! Quick who was responsible for the hit that caused Chris Simms to have his Spleen removed? Who was the starting DT in '05 along with Brentson Buckner?

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
