Bucs To Cut Talib?

TAMPA- It’s going to be sad ending to a tragic stint in Tampa.

When the Bucs drafted Aqib Talib in 2008, they though they were getting the heir apparent to Ronde Barber’s legacy at the cornerback position. Instead they got a thug who was posing as an NFL player.

After his most recent run in with the law which saw a warrant be issued for his arrest, the Bucs are very much considering cutting Talib the moment the lockout is over. This is according to sources inside and outside the Buccaneers organization.

It’s still just speculation but after this third strike it appears Talib is out. Tampa has had no problem with taking troubled players onboard, but enough is simply enough.

Talib has been in trouble ever since being drafted out of Kansas at the 20th selection of the 2008 NFL Draft. He was involved in a fist fight with fellow Buccaneer Cory Boyd at the rookie symposium.

He's a good CB, but I don't know if I'd roll the dice. Maybe for the right price, but I think we stay far away regardless.

Pretty much I say no. He would be more trouble then anything. We have Marshall right now and FA is sure to have a few good CBs in it when the CBA is done.

P.S. BTW Panther I love your Bunny ****** the Chicken gif.:ihih:

Come on man.

Newton may not have been a choir boy, but he certainly wasn't involved in violent behavior or attempted murder.

Didn't say that he was, just that he has some spots on this record, just like Talib did coming out of college.

Character concerns are not a big deal if you are looking at them in the 4th round, but in the 1st.....and especially with the first overall. It's important.

You don't know his true character and neither concerns are even comparable y'all trying to hard

Don't care about his true character, what I do care about is the fact that there are 3 HUGE red flags about his past. Not saying that he isn't the best pick, just saying that there is a reason that so many people are wary of high draft picks with a checkered past.

    • fuging Christ dude this isnt hard.  Like at all.  I get you simping for this poo team is your thing but sometimes you have to look at reality.   Even removing his bum knee from the equation, none of this made sense.  He is 31.  He has been paid handsomely for his service here.  He was currently under contract for this season.  Why in the holy fug did anything have to be done 2 weeks before the season started.   The people for this move, in this thread are saying A) He deserved it (this is the nfl it doesnt work like that  B) It frees up cap space (then why in the fug didnt we do this in Feb or C) You logic (We are getting a deal at 53 million guaranteed for the next 3 years.   You realize with this deal we cannot cut or trade his ass for 3 years.  You understand this right?   So in my opinion we should have let this ride into the offseason and go from there, what he is going to threaten to walk, big fuging deal he would be 32 on a chronically bad knee, what other moronic franchise is going to give him 40 million up front?  It wasnt going to happen.   And you are acting like its impossible to replace a 32 year old RT with a bum knee.  Just go and draft someone, move Icky to RT.  There are tons of options instead of extending this dude 2 weeks before the fuging season.  The truth is Morgan and the shitheads in the FO fell for this dudes crying act and got all sentimental and shelled out another ext.  We are a poverty ass franchise that doesnt act professionally
    • Amazing what the prospect of being traded to Carolina will do for contract negotiations.
    • 5 Im glad football is back but after the embarrassment that was the browns pre season game where our starting D made Sanders look like a serviceable NFL QB, I lost hope again for a successful Panthers campaign this year.  I do hope I’m wrong!
