Jerry Rice: Accuracy, not race, the issue with Cam Newton

As they pointed out in the combine though, he was late getting out from under center which threw off the rhythm of his drop back, plant, and throw... Because his feet were off, he tried to compensate with his arm and the throws were off. With coaching, this should be easily fixable - his delivery itself isn't an issue, and game film shows he's really accurate throwing it deep for the most part - which is what we need.

I don't think the workouts were determinant of his ability to become a great pro. He shows up on gamedays.

I think it will be the more intermediate routes that we will feature, a lot of digs and skinny posts.

One issue I think is real big with Cam is his inability to hit his plant step and throw, he always has to hitch. We've seen this time and time again and even in the Gruden segment he did this and the receiver was just standing there waiting for the ball because Cam was late. In the NFL, that's a TAINT (Touchdown After INT - Simmons).

He'll need to work on his drop a lot and also when he gets to the top of his drop, work on the transition to his throwing motion. I think this will take him a very long time. Breaking all those bad habits that he has accumulated will be very difficult.

This is absurdity. Warren Moon was a good QB, sure. Jerry Rice played with one of the greatest QBs that has ever stepped on the football field. What, you don't think that he knows a little something about QBs, about winning, and about how things should be done?

Get over yourself.

So Jerry Rice is better equipped to discuss the plight and racism black QBs face than the sole black QB in the HOF? Gotcha. If Cam Newton fixes his "accuracy" people will believe he has a brain. If he fixes his "accuracy" Nolan Nawrocki will believe his smile is real.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Thank God for Jerry Rice!

Common sense is nice, isn't it?

But I suppose it's harder to draw attention to yourself that way than it is to play the race card..

Well at least you didn't use the Jessie Jackson pic you probably have been saving for a special occasion.

you know what i HATE!.....when people troll out a black face that supports their argument like that all of a sudden makes it right or he speaks for all black people. I love jerry rice he is the best WR ever but this is bullshit, race is always a factor. next up Michael Steele: says cam newton is a socialist

If Cam had fixed his accuracy people wouldnt call him a thug. If his passing efficiency was just a few points higher nobody would think he was a money hungry soulless athlete who cant spell his name correctly.

I believe Jerry Rice does know more about Warren Moon than how the game is played. Jerry was in the huddle every single day with one of the greatest QBs ever, with one of the greatest head coaches ever.

I didn't say anything about this racism bull-poo. A lot of you idiots think just because a guy is black, and some group of people don't like them, it's immediately because they're racist. (Isn't that called reverse racism?) It's f'n stupid to boil it back down to racism.

The only color that matters to the players is green. The only color that matters to us fans is that glittering sterling silver of the Lombardi Trophy.

even us so called huggers knows he is a work in progress but when you question his ability to come to work, lead, breakdown film, brain smarts etc thats when the whole racism thing pops up.

Either that or his plays were so simple in college he hasn't shown the ability to do those things and it's a question.

Play 36

Cam Newtons Completion % last year was higher than Gabberts, Daltons, Mallets, Ponders, Kaepernicks, Stanzis....

He also threw the ball behind the LOS a poo ton, but don't let facts get in the way

Gotta call it like I see it I find it funny y'all act like you haven't seen racially motivated comments being made about Cam on here or in the media this offseason. Some criticism is motivated he has to put in work to get better but the Nawrocki "fake smile" statements, or the dumb, money hungry Thug stuff in general leads people to call a spade a spade.

    • Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.
    • Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players
    • This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
