The Pro Dareus crowd

funny statement from a fan of a team with no DTs, but a starting WR, CB, and Guard that were drafted in the 3rd.

it helps when you use the rest of the league as a source for forming opinions and not just Carolina.

it also helps when you look at specific drafts and what positions they are deep with talent.

if only someone had taken the time to look at all the DTs and QBs drafted over the last x number of years after establishing a base line for success v. failure and crunched the numbers to see if any of their opinions had a shred of validity at all or looked at who specifically would likely be available at both positions in the 3rd+ and figured out how they're predicted to adjust and what attributes they would bring to the team instead of throwing a terrible op up with no information whatsoever then getting defensive when people laugh heartily out loud at his pitiful little effort and go about the rest of the day hoping the thread maker gets killed in a giraffe stampede

This is just one of those drafts where there isn't anyone worthy of the #1 pick so you just have to go with who you think will make the best player. I could make a case that every player worthy of a top 5 pick in this draft could be a bust.

I think CRA 's point is that if you pick a DT of all positions with the #1 pick it is hard to comprehend unless you believe he will have a Suh like impact on your team. It isn't that Dareus stinks, it is if he will be a big enough impact player to justify a #1 pick on a position that typically isn't a high impact position unless that player is completely dominate.

I'm trying to figure out what Suh has to do with Dareus.

The havoc Suh causes would make him more justifiable at #1 overall in a draft that was heavy in DT talent.

Dareus ain't a Suh. He will be a very good DT......coming out of a draft w/ loads of DL talent. With no 2nd round pick you gotta make those 3rd rounders matter.

uh duh don't you get it?

he's not dareus. he's not dareus. Dareus, he is not!

UNLIKE WHAT YOU THOUGHT THEY ARE NOT THE SAME PERSON!

draft cam

It is not Cam or nothing for me......Carolina can address the QB position lots of ways. A band aid is fine and that would allow them to go for a better player like Green, Peterson or Miller. Carolina just has to address QB in some manner. If they could get a Palmer (and wait a season on finding a future guy) I think they could be competitive out of the gate and back into the mix.

again, it has to do with the depth in talent in this particular draft.

And Rivera spoke today about this very issue, saying that it was a passing league, and you need to be able to rush the passer and cover receivers.

I am probably reading too much into that comment, but as soon as he said it, I thought, well, they aren't going to pick Dareus. PP, maybe, or someone more effective at rushing the passer like Miller, if they don't go QB.
