The Pro Dareus crowd

CRA

There is a difference in taking a calculated gamble and reaching for another "athlete playing QB this is supposed to revolutionize the position".

i have heard no one claim that about Cam.....I think they most hope he turns out to be a Big Ben or Josh Freeman type QB.

I just want a QB that won't crumble when the pressure is on and can evade/feel the pass rush..i've seen Newton do that and we've seen Vick/Freeman do it to us for years and I want one of those QBs lol..

I did see a Newton quote on espn today where he was saying if he had a choice he would just be a passer but he just does what he's told..fwiw

If Cam didn't cause such a stir, there would be no Pro Dareus crowd. He would simply be one of many we might pick. But since Cam is so hated, people reach for anything they can to get their mind off him. They make guys look lightyears better than they actually are and put them on a pedestal. The ONLY played in the entire Draft worthy of that is Peterson and I doubt we pick him. Dareus will be solid, but he's not worth the first pick and if Cam weren't scaring some of you to death, you'd barely even mention Dareus as an option.

Yep, we don't want a black QB, but we're willing to take a black DT with the #1 pick.

It's all about race with those of us that don't buy into the Cam Newton hype.

I was listening to some guy named Hub(?) from PFW doing an interview on my lunch today and he made an interesting point that Rivera went through 9 interviews before getting a head coaching gig and he may not want to risk all that on a potential career-killer like Newton. Hurney has the final say, but I'd have to imagine his leash is getting shorter too.

I'm not saying I agree or that Cam is a career killer, just thought it was another interesting point of view.

true, if you are Rivera... Cam nor Clausen look like the kind of options you want to role w/ to start your debut season.

you gotta think he might prefer Palmer or a vet became avaliable so he can play D and survive on offense (delay the future franchise pick). Give Palmer a ground attack and he is a decent QB....

I've seen that pop up a lot and that just makes me nervous because it feels like an excuse saying he won't be able to succeed the conventional way.

I think he'll be a football player like if vick/culpepper had a baby.

In terms of his career this is the year he would want to draft a QB. If he waits till next year he likely has only one shot. If he drafts one this year and he misses he will likely have time to correct it. If he misses next year it is likely his clock would expire before he got a second chance.

I don't think saying some looks to be a Big Ben/Freeman type QB is an excuse. In all honesty, as bad ass as Peyton Manning is.....the wrong coach or system could get a guy like that killed.

I could handle a Vick/Pep love child....if you have a defensive team that ain't a bad option
