The "Get To Know Cam Newton" Thread

Two college championships, two injuries that limited him in both games... but I don't think he'll run anywhere near as much in the pros as he did in the last two years of college.

That being said, our coaches have made it clear they intend to use his running abilities... so we'll just have to hope that he stays healthy!

that's a very fluid statement.. I fully believe they will take advantage of his athletic ability (i.e., roll outs), but I do not expect they were referring to adding a dozen plays out of the wildcat.

Rivera said something along the lines of not just on scrambles but also as a runner with the ball that made it sound like they were not just talking about a Freeman/Big Ben gameplan but maybe a bit more VYish? I dunno.

Which is why I see him being a productive rookie they'll ease him in there early with what he does best like VY along with coaching up him to be more balanced as a pocker passer. Improving his already underrated arm you gotta be excited for our future...

I would have to listen to it again.. I'm sure there are a few things they will try with him..

but as I mention below,

And they should. He is a great runner. To not use those attributed would be foolish. Just don't use them 20 times a game. More like 10.

I doubt they run Cam 10 times a game.. I'll have to take the "I'll believe it when I see it approach".. you can take advantage of his running ability without putting your QB in positions to get injured.. (that would be foolish)

If he can play like McNabb he has the ability to be a HOF'er. McNabb was always very mobile, but usually exhausted his options in the pocket before bailing and using his legs. If Cam can A. Learn the playbook B. Make multiple reads and C. Not leave the pocket prematurely then the kid has a legit shot at greatness.

Though as big as some LB's I do want him to learn to slide feet first and take care of his body.

I can honestly say I'm excited about the possibilities with Cam.

Colin Cowherd is STILL ripping cam on Sportsnation right now. He thinks he's "too flashy too succeed" and repeatedly questioned cam's work ethic...

 last week on the day of the draft he said Cam could succeed early in his career and he see's a lot of Big Ben in his game. F**k Colin dude just doing it to get people to talk/for ratings.

Haters gone reach/hate
