Wow are we going to criticize him for everything he does/says? Some people live for hate..So when Delhomme would go home to raise horses that's a red flag because he needs to be in charlotte 24/7? Please people Cam hasn't even moved in to charlotte yet..what's he suppose to do stay at Jimmy C's place? People need to chill and let em enjoy being the first pick in the NFL draft for a moment..I sure as hell know i would..

When you win the Super Bowl, then you can say "I'm going to Disney World" not after you get picked first in the draft.

If you get hired by someone by someone and get a fat signing bonus that will basically set you up for life, the last thing they want to hear you say is "Phew, I made it! Time to kick back for a little R & R!" Even more so when you come in with tons of red flags.

Very concerning.

Not cool... Just trying to sale an item to the fans it should go to... What's the problem with that?

I know this isn't were this is suppose to go, but there isn't a general for sale section and I can't start a thread yet.

Delhommey when are you going to make a thread titled "For those who said Hurney would never take a QB in the first round..." and then bring up debate from like 3 years ago that nobody cares about just so you can pettily bring up the fact that "EVERYONE WHO ARGUED WITH ME IS WRONG WRONG WRONG"

Better advice might be "get used to it" :sosp:

Everybody's been gung ho about all the attention a high profile draft pick like this will bring the Panthers. All well and good, but added attention also means a whole lot more people are gonna be watching - and talking about it - when you screw up. We have to be prepared for that as well.

Like I said during the draft process, I think Newton is one of those personalities that some people love but who just rubs others the wrong way. Put a person like that under a spotlight by placing them in a leadership role and it's inevitable that sparks are going to fly. Some won't be deserved, but some will.

What you have to look at is the on-field tie in. David Carr was that kind of personality too, and his on field failures helped maximize the negatives against him. On the flipside, Steve Smith. Very polarizing personality, but what he did on the field took away a lot of the sting of the other stuff.

Just like those examples, the difference with Newton will come down to what happens on the field.

As for the 'vacation' comment, doesn't really bother me much, but it also doesn't surprise me that it does some people. Truthfully, that's a position all of us may want to get used to being in.

      In all honesty, no one knows if Dan really pushed for Bryce to be drafted. It's not fair to Dan to say that just because he was a part of the Fitterer regime then he was in full support of drafting Bryce. If the HC, Reich at the time really wanted Stroud but got bullied into drafting Bryce then Dan had even less say so in the matter. Dan was also saddled with giving Bryce an opportunity to compete in years 2/3 because of the cost to trade up and get him by ownership.  Outside of managing the QB position, Dan has made good moves and built a decent roster. Solidified the O-line and D-line, drafted contributors, and made good trades (Mike Jackson), and free agent signings (Dowdle). I do believe that this offseason will be really important for Dan and we'll see whose side he is clearly on. Bryce has had plenty of time and opportunity to prove himself and he has failed, if Dan is a Bryce homer he'll give him another year and pick up the 5th year option. If Dan isn't a Bryce homer, he'll move on from Bryce. Either way, we'll find out this offseason.

      Jones would be what he is if he was on this team, a fairly middle of the road game manager. Still and upgrade but probably not worth the price the 49ers may want for him. If it's not something stupid in terms of ask and he doesn't want something even more stupid in terms of longish term contract, I am okay with a middling game manager until we can do better through the draft. The one thing that wouldn't be terrible is some stability at QB. That has almost never happened under Tepper.
