Hurney on WFNZ this morning 5/4/11

Apparently no one missed it *badum tshhh*

I heard it, nothing earth shattering, mostly callers second guessing the Newton pick

He was asked will Smitty be here next year. Said he can't answer that because they can't talk to players, not sure how he feels right now. Also said that last season was very frustrating for Smitty, and that we have to get past that. Mac followed up with "Did Smitty ask JR for a trade", Hurney said he doesn't discuss private conversations publicly.

Most notable info was that "based on what he's heard" (after re-iterating he can't talk to the players) Jeff Otah is rehabbing well and they hope he'll be 100% for training camp.

considering otah got a year long vacation, i hope he's rehabbing well. can't say he stressed anything.

well dont' forget he tore his shoulder doing who knows what..the knee is the least of our troubles with him right now.

I'd like to see how many people will question Cam being the #1 pick when we win the division this year with the Hardest schedule in the League...

Better yet, I'd like to see how many people will claim that they have been on Cam's side once he starts winning games! I'd be absolutely floored if somebody admitted that they hated the pick and he proved them wrong!

Most people just don't have any Integrity though, and will swear up and down that they have supported him through it all. I for one will be able to honestly say "I told u so"

That's what's gonna happen. There gonna act like they never doubted him and downplay the scrutiny he's been getting. Nobody will admit they were wrong and misguided.

I don't see how this post is relevant to this thread? Was it just an opportunity for you to gloat?

    • take a  look around the league at other young Qb's such as Drake Maye , Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix , CJ Stroud  & Caleb Williams who at the time like Bryce Young they also were drafted by teams with a losing record .the only difference with these Qb's is after joining their teams with a losing record they led those same teams to a winning record in a very short period of time .it's simply what you call a game changer & or elite Qb's & then take a  look at  the other side of the coin you have Qb's such as Trey Lance, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones, Justin Fields  & Anthony Richardson also like Bryce Young all first round picks who instead of winning either did not play or led their teams to a losing record while playing  Bryce Young who has an overall record of 14-30 & wildly inconsistent & never in the history of the NFL has a Qb 5'10" or shorter had a successful carrer as Qb in the NFL  if anything history is telling you exactly what ?..just saying

    • to me these two signings were so bad for the Panthers at the time of our young team. "Sean Gilbert was signed by the Carolina Panthers on April 21, 1998, after being traded from the Washington Redskins in a deal that sent the Panthers two first-round picks (Nos. 5 and 12) to Washington. The Panthers then re-signed Gilbert to a 7-year, $46.5 million contract extension on the same date"  The other was Jason Peters being picked in the First round of the 1998 draft. "Peter played for the Panthers from 1998 to 2001, appearing in 38 games (starting 20) and recording 88 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, and 1 fumble recovery His NFL career was cut short by a chronic neck stinger, forcing him to retire after the 2001 season
