We Might Be In the NFL's Toughest Division

Well, that DE is likely to be Ray Edwards, which, while an upgrade, isn't exactly going to replace Abraham.

Grimes was like a seventeenth alternate and you should know from years of watching Vick make the pro bowl it doesn't mean much.

and if the justification for Jones is that he'd start for the Panthers then maybe you should have saved money and signed David Terrell.

LOL! Ray will play the other side of Abraham

Grimes is a baller(and you know it)

Jones would be #1 on at least 70% of NFL teams.

White, Jones, Jenkins, Gonzo and Turner in the Backfield.........1st and Goal from the 5.....................now that scary!;)

Along with the NFC East and AFC East and South, you could easily make the case that the NFC South has been the most competitive division in the last decade.

I think we're in for a good football year. The talent level of teams in the NFL is closer than I've ever seen.

Abraham is 33 and is only a year off of vanishing for an entire season. A reasonable fan should recognize that it's time to replace him through free agency. it's not like they can do it through the draft now unless the do something they've never done on D-Line talent and luck out.

Ray Edwards is not a replacement for John Abraham 2 years from now, and the Falcons are going to have to overpay for him since everyone in the world knows it's their most pressing need.

Grimes is the most athletic guy on any field he steps on to but he's four feet tall. on top of that Robinson is an imposter, nowhere near what he's worth, and should probably be a number 2.

no he would not.

not when they're down 28 in the fourth quarter.

also falcons fans seem to be taking for granted the adjustment period for wide receivers, especially confusing considering Roddy White was nearly cut in 2007 because of his lack of development.

can't see the Falcons replicating their success this year. might make the playoffs but it wouldn't surprise me if they went 8-8/9-7 and missed. not buying into the Bucs hype either, even though I really like Freeman. can never count out the Saints though because of great coaching and Brees.

I believe their best defense was their offense. They were able to control the clock and have long sustaining drives, keeping a higher TOP. That is why their defense ranked so high. The holes showed in the playoff loss, their offense couldnt stay on the field and their defense couldnt stop the Packers. Offense is good enough to win the SB, but they will need numerous breaks on defense like the Saints did a couple years back, almost gift wrapped wins.

Yes sometimes the best defense is a great offense. Still you can't really look at the Green Bay playoff game as that definitive of their defense. When Rodgers is on, no one can stop him and he was on, that game. Philly made the mistake of getting rid of McDermott after Green Bay embarrassed them the week before. If they had waited until the Atlanta game, they might have seen that Rodgers was great in the playoffs for the most part in 2010.

Rivera Brings a certain nastiness that i LOVE.

And we are the toughest division in the NFL - And i want Cam Newton thrown in with the sharks as quickly as possible. Get whats his name again out of here and trade him out. Let him go develop somewhere else - Yes Clausen you cost me one sundays too many bro. Cant forgive you for that.

I think Rivera will enjoy beating those pass happy teams into the dirt next year. If our D is not top 5 I will be shocked.

    • I don't necessarily think he will be moved, I would currently be leaning against that notion. I think a lot will depend on the coaching situation. Carroll certainly can't be thinking about wanting to go through a serious strip down and overhaul, so the longer he plans to remain, the less likely I think Crosby gets moved.
    • I think everyone says Mike Evans because of size, but really they have different strengths and play styles.  Tmac is better on intermediate routes and not nearly as good at contested catches.
    • At this point, it is criminal to go into the 2026 training camp/OTA's with XL penciled in as a #2 WR. The team must upgrade, either through free agency or the draft. If he cannot give 100% effort on significantly less snaps as a #4-6 WR(players like Tremayne have done that consistently) then I don't think you have a player worth rostering beyond the trade deadline. Offensively, we eventually have to upgrade to an NFL starting caliber C. It's been almost the length of time from Gross to Ikey since Kalil retired and we have below average to terrible C play. Love Mays as a BC-esque utility backup but he will never be an above average long term starting C.  The TE room is one of the worst in the NFL but it's a low usage position in this offense, so the investments are likely to be small, if any. I would never expect to see an elite TE in a Dave Canales offense. 100% agree on OL depth. We actually aren't bad there but BC will be gone, Mays is a UFA, Corbett is a UFA and Zavala has been both injured and bad. We have to bolster that depth again or resign guys like Mays and Corbett to keep that depth somewhat stable.
