Giving exact change

I catch hell from my folks all the time for it. They love to snicker when I check out, because they know how much I HATE to break a dollar. I don't always do it though. When there are a lot of people in line behind me, I usually don't search for change up to about 60 cents. Someone please vindicate my obsession by telling me you do it too. :D

i do it if i'm carrying change and bills. most of the time i swipe the debit card though. by the time i enter my pin and go through the rest of the prompts i've probably spent the same amount of time as you at the checkout.

It's nice if you can do it without much hassle, but I don't go out of my way to do it.

Up to .60? I stop at .10

besides, I have a piggy bank I'm trying to fill with change :piggy:

i've had times that i didn't do it for several transactions and then had more than a dollar in change in my pocket. so then at some point i've given more than a dollar in change just to get rid of it. i'd much rather have the bills instead of the change.

I only do it if I know I have a chitload of change jingling around in my purse and my wallet. I hate to sit there and have to count out each cent.

You know who does do it though? Old women. They freakin love to give you the change to the exact penny and will take hours doing it. They're old though, they don't gaf

well its really easy if I know I have a bunch of quarters. Its when you have to dig when it becomes a hassle. I do use my debit card quite a bit though. Depends on what im buying

I sometimes give exact change but something I do is to give change so I don't get pennies back. I hate when the bill comes to .26, .51, .76.

yea, now Im not the one that holds up the line counting pennies, that pisses me off.

I just hate change in general... it's annoying. Of course, I rarely use cash anyway...

With the devalueing of the dollar, at some point we will/should do away with "change" all together.

I can't imagine that it's not more expensive to make pennies and nickels than what they are worth these days.
