Pep just got exposed

Much smarter.

The "compensation" is focusing on the rest of the team and its gaps. You know. The ones who want to be here. Additional compensation is not to have to get caught up in a dramatic soap opera and being somewhat handcuffed while other opportunities come and go.

You people are greedy and think this guy is gonna be the motherload and he just isn't. He is a huge question mark for us and sure to be a bigger one next season if he's still here. He's not a leader. He wants to change positions. He is 29.

His worth is basically all on his potential on this new team in a new position in a new scheme. He wants primo money and there is plenty of film that shows what looks like him taking a play off here and there. He can say one thing as to why. We can say another. The suitor will say a third. The media will drag it through the mud. And a slimy agent will do whatever he can to run the necessary interference to elongate this entire process in effort to fatten his cut.

That is why the Steelers let kids with issues walk when their time is up instead of pimping them out all summer and wasting effort and time trying to convince the NFL that the guy you are not committed to keeping on your squad is the best thing since sliced bread.

Plaxico Burress

Joey Porter

There are plenty of questions about his potential that keep this thing from turning out the way you want it to and what all that equates to is that this thing is gonna be a mess we could have rid ourselves of and sent a message to the league that we just don't think the guy is that valuable in spite of his "athletic ability"

Now we have conflicting media perspectives and vocal team mates injecting doubt into the situation about his intent.

this does not really help his marketability by the way

Get yer ******* popcorn ready. This will be nothing short of T.O./Brett Favre material.

...but I am one of the worst posters here according to some so take all that with a grain of salt <rollseyes>

Bottom line....franchising Peppers is not going to make us any better of a team than we were last season and if you think it will I'll be awaiting your theory.

oh, to the clown who quoted this same post I did and added the superbly written and ingeniously prepared "Burn" with a smiley:

You are my hero. I am in awe of your courage. Don't ever let anyone ever tell you you can't do something. And you can be anything you want when you grow up.

:out: Just admit you were wrong. Its not the end of the world and not worth holding out hope that our team will do bad just for the sake of you being wrong and wanting payback.

He hasn't been proven wrong yet. Hey, I've had several fights with CarolinaRolls. He's arguably intrusive and argumentative, but that's just his style. I'd like nothing better than he be proven wrong here, but he's a Carolina fan that's turned on a Carolina player, doesn't happen much on this board...

So until he's proven wrong, I'll support his right to post his opinions...

Never mind that Plax went on to get a ring...

My thing is, Pep is good, yes. He's obviously been unhappy here from the beginning of last season, hence, why he takes plays off. He got his numbers up big so that he looks good (at least against bad teams) and decided that if he did that, he'd get attention from other teams. All he is doing is the equivalent to Manny Ramirez last year in the MLB. He wants out. Our best option is get all we can for him, and get this huge distraction out of the way. Just my two cents.

I think I just echoed what most people in this thread have said.

to some of us, he was exposed during his 2.5 sack year

Yes this is a cumulative lack of production. When you see Haynesworth play he will collapse the pocket and dominate his man for other player to excel....Peppers just runs off of my widescreen tv and everyone else is blocked.

If you see this you see this....if you don't you don't.

I have heard Haynesworth ripped by a few analysts for taking plays off and playing only in contract years. Most of the time they show tape to back them up. Last I recall was Sapp on NFLN this past season.

Whether Pep takes plays off or not, IMO he doesn't beat double teams the way you would expect a guy of his ability and payscale to be able to do more often. Changing to a 3-4 or a different type of 4-3 isn't going to enable him to beat double teams. He is still going to have to prove he can do it more.

When you trade Peppers away for a 7th rounder or even a higher pick in the week prior to the start of training camp and have not been in the mix of acquiring other badly needed defensive line free agents because you did not know if you were gonna have to pay pep or not...you lose.

when your entire team has to answer (very likely) questions about a pseudo-teammate who does not want to play with them anymore all spring...you lose

the only way he is worth anything is if it happens fast and my OPINION (damn some of you are sensitive) is that nothing is going to happen fast because there are TOO MANY question marks surrounding him.

Whether they are legitimate questions or not is irrelevant. They are cards that will be played that will eventually delay any potential transaction. I am not gonna create a list of factors that play into this but I think its gonna get ugly.

*Thank you Mint.

*I am not wrong Snake. How can you make that determination yet when FA hasn't even begun?

*The fact that Plax got a ring is irrelevent xlights. And while I agree with your "get all you can" statement. I believe that all we can get is never gonna come close to cancelling what we can potentially lose by not focusing on the market all spring.

Sure everybody. I wanna first round draft pick for him too. Who the fvck doesn't? The question here is about how legitimate our chances are of getting that and if the efforts of our front office may be a little better used if they focused on something besides a player who has question marks surrounding him, wants out, demands primo money, and is already limiting our options to find a suitor.

The tagging and plan to market Julius Peppers looks like the perfect storm to me.

Yep, Haynesworth is awesome on every single play. He never gets stood up or blocked out of the play. Not like that lazy mofo #90. Why can't Peppers be like the elite players? You know, never have a bad game or even a bad play for that matter.

    • D Carr must have really disliked the saints to wait and do this announcement after the draft has passed if he made this call a few weeks before the draft sure they would have approached it and the offseason differently.  oh well will be interesting to see how their qbs perform.  would love to see them roll with Thill and just make the whole offense towards his skillset.  Although sadly would be only playing in about half the games with how often he gets injured.
    • I have to say it's quite fascinating seeing you pivot from months and months of wailing and agonizing about threads derailing into Bryce Young slingfests only for you to turn around and do the same thing. And just for the record. Nobody in life ever attained wisdom and clarity from mistakes by having people blindly fawn over them and tell them they are above reproach and incapable of making mistakes. Our front office is just as human as we are. And based on the fact that front offices across the league outside of a handful of teams change on a fairly regular basis it's safe to say they are certainly no more infallible than the average Joe even though they possess significantly more knowledge usually. If you want a utopia where all you do is shine shoes for anyone associated with the Panthers you go right on ahead and create yourself a new community sir. More power to you.
    • I trust Morgan when it comes to LBs so I think Wallace will do well.
