NBC bring back 'Fear Factor'

Fear of reviving reality hits is not a factor for NBC. After spiking their ratings impressively with singing competition The Voice, the Peacock is now rebooting action classic Fear Factor.

NBC’s head of alternative programming Paul Telegdy says the notion first came to the network’s attention when sister cable channel Chiller saw high ratings for near decade-old Fear Factor repeats. Telegdy watched some of the encores himself and was impressed how well the action held up.

“No one has come close to doing what they’ve done on that show,” Telegdy exclusively tells EW. “You go back and they’ve stood the test of time. It always had this incredible spectacle to it.”

Telegdy conferred with Fear Factor producer, Endemol USA, and discussed doing a few specials with the company’s president and CEO David Goldberg. Then they decided to go bigger.

I hope they bring back Joe Rogan, his UFC job shouldn't interfere. I think this is the first reality competition show I started watching regularly.

Yeah Joe is very upfront about Fear Factor being 100% about the money. News Radio was ending and he was like "I'll just do this show for 1 season then it'll get canceled and I'll have the paycheck." He didn't actually enjoy the work, I don't think he would return to it now that he has UFC and other stuff.

And I don't think it'll work without him. He was kind of an everyman watching people do fuged up poo along with us. They'll replace him with some "TV host" type person.

About the only time I enjoyed Fear Factor was when Tyrone Biggums won.

Dammit! This was what I was going to say....never watched the show, but I did watch Tyrone Biggums on it

"This isn't the first time I've tasted penis Joe Rogan"

"In my line of work, we eat penises all the time."

"Gotta play to win."

"Baby, I got you that rock you've always wanted."

Oh, my god, Tyrone, this could last us.....

I know, hours.

"Remember what the Bible says: He who is without sin, cast the first rock. And I shall smoketh it."

    • Seven North Carolina players have entered the transfer portal or announced their intentions to enter so far today: Derek Dixon (6.5 PPG) Jonathan Powell (4.8 PPG) Kyan Evans (4.0 PPG) Zayden High (3.4 PPG) Isaiah Denis (1.9 PPG) Jaydon Young (1.8 PPG) James Brown (1.2 PPG)
    • As long as we have DB, odd man fronts are the way to go for us. We want to line DB up between the guard and tackle (4i-tech) because of how quick he is off the snap and his punch on the guard off the snap. If anyone is wondering why he pretty much has to be doubled (or combo blocked) just about every snap, its because he is lined up in that spot in our odd man front. If we change to an even front, it becomes a lot harder to have DB play the 4i-tech.  Not sure if I would say Evero likes smaller NTs - I wouldn't call Bobby Brown a small NT by any sense. I think we run a 1-tech NT, so they are usually getting double teamed (or combo blocked) by concept alone. I actually think Bobby Brown did a pretty good job of eating blocks and being positionally sound on most runs at him (not his fault we were rocking ass LBs last year + Wharton being god awful). The bigger problem came on the toss plays/outside runs where DB wasn't able to blow it up in the backfield (i.e., the Bills game). Lloyd should help with the run D and getting a rangy LB in the draft will definitely help. There are also some good 1-tech DTs (and 0-techs) that can be instant day 1 starters for us in the draft.
    • Thanks for bringing receipts. I appreciate the facts, but they are a stark contrast to what we see on the ice, but maybe, as I've said before, his "aw sh!t" moments just seem to weigh heavier than his "attaboy" moments.
