Court engaged in "settlement talks", court-ordered mediation for next week cancelled!

In what might be HUGE news, Daniel Kaplan is reporting that due to the fact that the federal court is engaged in confidential settlement talks with both sides, next week's federal mediation has been cancelled.

@dkaplanSBJ daniel kaplan

The minnesota federal court has cancelled mediation set next week saying it is engaged in confidential settlement talks with the parties

This could be HUGE... it is possible that major progress has been made if settlement talks are still going on, which it sounds like they are based on the mediation cancellation.

Maybe we'll have an end to this soon. God, I hope so.

you shouldn't.

capital has triumphed over labor once again, simply by gaming the legal system.

they've won because they're in better position to weather a federal case.

they've won because it's easier to marshall 31 white millionaires than 1500+ football players.

they've won because the system is gamed in their favor.

fug all our lives.

it'll be over in the next 2 weeks

I've never wanted so much for one of your posts to be correct before... At this point, I don't know whose "side" I'm on but I am not exactly happy with either side... but I'm okay with the fact I'm selfish and want football to get on with it.

you should be on the side of labor but this is america and capital has spent the last three decades demonizing workers and boy howdy has it worked.

if you just want football regardless of the cost it's a great thing.

If you give a poo about the plight of organized labor vs. management it's the most depressing thing that could happen.

    • Unless the league decides to rollback the rule book 30 years, that player at QB isn't winning any Super Bowls.  QB has to elevate those around him.  QBs that are carried by the team are always exposed in the playoffs. Closest thing to an average QB that has won the SB recently is Jalen Hurts.  But he's so unique with his legs and the unstoppable tush push that I don't think it's easy to compare him to anyone.  Certainly not someone who is subbed out for QB sneaks.
    • You absolutely can have hope. You can’t convert people though; making advocacy posts are kind of … not reading the room.   I had a small hope that he would be able to at least manage some games and that they could make it work in some kind of no fun to watch fashion.  But honestly I had 100% determined he was not NFL starter material, and I had conviction. So to root for him to marginally succeed goes against the best interest of the Panthers long term, according to my beliefs. I wanted him gone the minute he got here if I am honest. It was up to him to prove otherwise.  He has rarely shown me anything to think I was wrong on his ceiling.  He did show me some courage last year, standing in the pocket and stepping into his throw in the face of pressure - but that has gone somewhere. He made some nice throws last year in places too, but they invested in him on the level of the Atlanta game should be his norm. Good luck seeing that again on Sunday. Still, he did it once, so technically it could happen again.
    • Damn that was a longer post than I intended, Maybe I should have started a new thread.
