Kids and their messy rooms

So I have this 10 year old kid who refuses to clean her room. I told her she would not be allowed to do anything else but eat, sleep and use the bathroom until her room is clean. She's been at it in there for 4 days, it's still not clean and almost looks as bad as it did when she started. Today I have resorted to raising my voice at her. I don't expect it to be perfect, hell I don't even care how she keeps it organized just as long as I can walk in there and it looks presentable.

She doesn't seem to care that she's been living in her room for 4 days. The bad thing is it wasn't really that much to clean up. She could be outside playing with her friends, they are all having a great time swimming, slip n sliding, playing in the dirt and riding their bikes. Are your kids this hardheaded?

I cured mine from that with the threat that if she didn't do it I would and that she wouldn't like my way of cleaning. She tested me so of couse so I went in her room with a black garbage bag and started "throwing things away". She took over with a quickness and from that point on all it took was the threat of me doing it to get the job completed in just a few hours.

This..unfortunately my wife isn't a good example and keeps bringing home bags/containers of stuff from the homeplace and is just shoving it whereever.

Try giving her a super big dirty clothes basket. I kept my room clean growing up by having a 50 gallon sized basket to toss everything in.

That works well with clothes and she has a big basket for clothes but we don't clean house by throwing everything into a basket.

I've done that several times & it didn't work.

My daughter just doesn't care. I've even gone as far as taking everything from her for a period of time, she just didn't care.

:ack2:

maybe you could put a TV in the room and run a steady stream of every snap Clausen took this season......that should get her out of there.

This......

It worked great on all of my daughters (4 of 'em) and we just implemented it on the 6 YO. When I clean, I get rid of everything that is not in it's proper place, toys, radio and such. Even some of her favorite clothes.

Nothing gets replaced unless it's on her Xmas list that year.

Kids can be very stubborn and have the hold out power of Bobby Sands.

When you mean get rid of it, do you mean donate it to charity?

    • In 2025 Sam Darnold had over 1k more passing yards than Bryce Young on 1 less pass attempt. Repeat that to yourself several times and let it sink in. I absolutely love it when people come on here and invoke Sam Darnold like some gotcha. Darnold is the physical prototype for what anyone needs in a franchise QB. All the physical tools. Few people thought he would put it all together on the mental side of the position. He used to make some of the worst decisions you would ever see. At times in the past he made up for that with absurd throws and athleticism. But make no mistake whatsoever no matter how you feel about our starting QB. Bryce Young is a completely opposite conundrum. He lacks virtually any and all physical tools and athleticism and his elite processing is really mediocre at best on a good day and horrific on a bad day. These are realities people should have already been addressing instead of quadrupling down in year four.
    • The nice thing about the timing of Bryce's contract at least is that it's going to match up with the 2027 Draft Class. No excuses, he either becomes Rams 2nd half Bryce year long, or we draft his replacement.  Nothing wrong with carrying Bryce on his 5th year expiring and a 1st round rookie waiting in the wings. Let the rookie sit until the trade deadline, deal Bryce to a needy team at the time, profit.
    • Yeah they were bad QBs - but QB's that stayed on their teams for several years.  BY is better than all of those.
