Silas tells Maggette he is the guy

Recommended Posts

Coach Paul Silas has already told Corey Maggette that the newly acquired small forward will start next season.

Maggette won't even be forced to fight for the job. This also confirms that the Bobcats are sticking with Boris Diaw at the power forward spot, which is bad news for Tyrus Thomas and Bismack Biyombo. As the starting small forward on a team devoid of scorers, we're expecting Maggette to get a ton of shots up next season. He'll be an asset for owners in need of points and free-throw shooting.

I don't see why Cranston is so upset that Silas is not making him fight for the job when Maggette is the only true small forward that the Bobcats have on the roster. I know they just made a qualifying offer to Dante Cunningham, but I think Cunningham needs one more year to mature before they see if he can become a starter at the next level. On top of that we traded Captain Jack, Livingston, and our 19th pick in the draft for Maggette (and Biyombo), so we might as well use all that we can get out of him.

Why does this confirm that Diaw is the starter? Did he think that Diaw was going to be the SF and Tyrus the PF? That's not a horrible idea but in no shape or form does this mean Diaw is going to be starting. We are paying big bucks for a talent like Tyrus, he needs to be starting.

That's what I was thinking. Why does that confirm Diaw is starting? Haha

Diaw needs to come off the bench, this way he can create mismatches against the other teams reserves, at the 3, 4, and, even sometimes at the 5. I seriously think Diaw would be very valuable in this role. I'd rather have TT starting.

This, either trade him or let TT start

I could get on board with this, provided that TT can stay out of foul trouble.

Its unlikely Diaw will be on the team at the start of the season, i honestly think he will be dealt by then for some sort of future pick in a way for MJ to save having to pay his salary this year.

He will have the most value at the trade deadline. I bet he gets dealt to a contender in need of help at the forward spot for a 1st round pick. And you know he will play hard this year since it is a contract year.

    • Dude, I think I might be having Jarvy withdrawals... I ripped the sleeves off of all of my t-shirts in my sleep last night. Every bite of my Alpha-Bita cereal spelled Seth, this morning. And, I took 7 naps before lunch. I'm losing it guys! Jarvy's Jaunty Band of Jaggoffs are getting more play than he is... smh Team Canada doesn't treasure Jarvis the way he deserves. He should take his band down to Liechtenstein, get a bag of passports, and start his own Olympic team! The raw animal magnetism of Jarvilicious will bring in a handful of NHLers on its own. And, since the IOC believes in collective punishment, he could have his pick of the rookies. Then, just fill out the rest of the roster with the maple blooded great white northerners who couldn't make the top squad. Can't trust this assembled awesomery to just any old Liechtensteinien with a clipboard and a whistle. Gotta bring in a legend worthy of this gold medal gambit. A hockey HOFer with the balls to buck the system and the aura to match our maverick. Huere geil, Vaduz!!! 2030 Gold Medal guaranteed!
    • Tennessee isn't trading a QB on a 2nd round contract that has starting experience.  That's bad business.
    • OT is the top priority as it is both an immediate and future need.  I wouldn't be past trading up slightly to get the guy we want.  You need that rookie contract right now.  Icky is a dead 17.5 million for the season.  Morton is 20+ mil for the season, Hunt is 20+ mil for the season.  There needs to be forward thinking regarding the future.   Caleb Lomu is a left Tackle, he's a solid prospect, he may be the best pick for us now and in the future.  I would seriously consider cutting Hunt after 2026, and let Lomu and Icky fight for the LT job, loser moves inside.  Icky's future may be at guard after this injury anyway.  If Damien Lewis keeps up his level of play he will need to be paid sooner rather than later.  Yosh and BC can be our top two depth OL at an affordable price.  You will need to look at OT again in 2027. Getting an EDGE for the sake of getting an EDGE outside of the top 10 is pretty risky.  I wouldn't be against eyeing someone like Cashius Howell, Derrick Moore, or TJ Parker in the 2nd (even if we trade a future pick to move up) or DDS in the third. I'd love to see us try to sign both Leo Chenal and Matt Millano in FA.   Chenal for the blitzing element we are missing from our LB corps and Millano for his elite coverage.  They could both work in tandem.  Remember, our FO has deep ties to both KC and Buffalo. I love thinking about the draft, but until Free Agency hits, we are clueless.  Looking at the strength of FA and the draft, OL is priority #1, LB #2, and EDGE #3.  We know what happens to Bryce when protection falls apart.
