My daughter's 14 year old bf sliced his throat because a demon told him to do it. He's in the hospital and will be for several days.

No, I don't believe in demons. I do think the kid might have been hearing voices or something. Whether from taking something or being mentally ill, we don't know yet.

My daughter as of last night hasn't made the connection that it might have been a suicide attempt. She was more focused on the demon telling him to do it.

I feel bad for your daughter. I had several friends kill themselves when I was a teenager and it is tough to deal with. It is a confusing time at that age to begin with.

overall, plenty of teens reach puberty and successfully handle the influx of hormones..

but there are also plenty of teens who can't handle it and go into deep depressions. it's not a situation where you see the big picture of life. the big picture is a deep depression: dark, lonely, and crippling sorrow.

I just hope that he can get the help he obviously needs. I think your daughter will be okay even once she realizes what really happened. Don't take this as any kind of negative comment on your parenting or me trying to tell you what to do, but just make sure she knows she has you to talk to if she needs it and if she needs to, there could be other people available for her to talk to outside the family too if that is easier (school counselors etc).

She definitely knows she can talk to us about anything. Now, whether she does or not remains to be seen. She'll talk to her friends, but they seem to be taking it in stride that the kid has demons talking to him.

Sorry, Sunbunny. So glad I don't have kids sometimes. If that's the wrong thing to say I'm sorry. Just seems like even the good ones get caught up with the wrong ones at times.

plenty of kids are going through insanity at that age, even if they look perfect on the outside.
