Score now is Owners1 Players 1. Now I'm hoping real hard that the players will not appeal like the owners did. Because if they do the football season is over for this year. Both Owners and Players need to seat down and work this out like grown men. Not like Spoiled little kids. But knowing Dsmith he will appeal this crap and there goes all this hard work from the past weeks gone down the drain.:mad:

A deal will be done in two weeks. The players are going to start losing lots of money and they don't have the savings put back (despite their million dollar salaries) to weather this out.
?? 2 weeks. They don't have 2 weeks to get a deal done. They have until the 15th which is next week to get a deal done before it begins to affect the preseason. It will also cost the owners and players 200,000 millions per week if any preseason games are missed. 2 weeks is not a option. A week at the most they have.

Also from the same report:

8th Circuit ruled NFL cannot lockout players not under contract -- i.e. rookies, free agents -- because there is no employment relationship.

So, Cam is not locked-out? GO MEET WITH RIVERA AND CHUD NOW.

I don't even know what that means. Hell Obama doesn't even know what that kindof number is.

But yes, 2 weeks. Here's the timeline:

3-4 days for the players to figure out that they just got fugged;

1-2 days for D bag Smith to try and sell his players that they aren't fugged;

3-4 days for the players to go above D bag Smith; and

3-4 days to hammer a deal out with the owners.

The bigger issue is what will this do to the ongoing negotations. Smith can appeal if he wants but by the time any ruling comes down the lockout will have accomplished it's purpose which is to force the player's to make concessions or lose millions in salary. His best hope legally would be hoping that Doty rules in the player's favor on the TV damages which would fund their coffers for some time. But that is putting all his eggs in 1 basket.

His better approach is negotiate and get a deal done. What we don't know is whether the owners will still offer what they have been doing or whether they start taking things off the table. Given that everyone expected this to happen and it is no big surprise, I would hope that it doesn't derail anything and perhaps just accelerates the process so we get a deal done in the next week.

So, very doubtful this ruling impacts current negotiations; also, players anti-trust suit still lingers, especially in September.

In other words, both sides should remain focused on a deal with urgency. If not done by next week, then it's a problem.

And if they would have ruled it was illegal? Would we have gotten back all if the time missed? All of the rookie practices? The OTA's? No we wouldn't have.

That ruling means absolutely nothing.

The courts mean nothing at this point. It was the only way for the players to fight it, so they were left with no choice.

At this juncture only one thing matters... These current negotiations. Nothing else matters anymore. This was never gonna get settled through the court system and if you had faith that it would be, you unfortunately have way too much faith in our broken system.

If you really believe that this was a legit decision that $$ played no part in... Guess what... You're wring again!

Thus whole ordeal has been and will always be about $$... Once they (players and owners) settle it through negotiations it will all be over.

Hopefully we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

It may affect when preseason games start or if there will be 4 or perhaps 3. But it won't affect the regular season which is all that matters. I certainly won't care if we miss a preseason home game as long as I am not forced to pay for it. Given the 9 billion dollar pie and the fact that the players don't get paid for preseason games, the 200 million missed is about 2% of the pie. Not a deal breaker or big issue yet.

A little known fact about the pre-season games is that the owners do not have to share the revenue generated by these games with the players as part of the revenue sharing agreement in the last CBA. So effectively, the owners are hurt more by missing those games than the players who only get the training camp money.

Sure players don't have much cash set aside, but at least they don't have to figure out how to pay the mortgage note on a stadium.
