With this group we could go to the playoffs. Only problem we need a proven QB.

Really think we need to get Orton.

I understand the sentiment, and agree that we have the talent to get to the playoffs given good QB play. But we have to be a little patient.

This team has most of the pieces in place to be good for a number of years if we let it develop. I would hate to see us fall into the Redskin trap of trying to buy a championship.

Wouldnt be buying a championship. Not trolling. Why must the Panthers think they have to start Cam this year. When it is a known fact the only thing that sucked last year was our QB's. Dont make the fans go through Newtons growing pains sit him and bring in either Orton or Bulger to start.

rookie qb with a good supporting cast have made the playoffs before..let's not assume we need a vet to get us there...also what guy who wants to start is going to come to Carolina and have the fans screaming for Newton every time they make a mistake.

Squirrel man I was just about to create a thread when I read this. Seriously we are building a team similar to the Jets and Mark Sanchise first year that was gonna ne the thread but I'll put it here. I'm a major football fanatic I watch everything think back two years they gave that kid weapons upon weapons which we have now done. Two playmaking tight ends a strong running game, and a stout turnover friendly defense (not sure we are turn over friendly yet but going off the basis that R R is a d guru). Remember they went to the AFC Champ (a tougher conference). It's about putting your rookie in a good manageable situation which they did and it seems we are doing so basically I'm sayin we can get to the playoffs with Cam if he plays at a good level not great just good even taking into account his rookie mistakes.

I wanted Orton or Palmer before the draft. Wouldn't be opposed to it now. Let Newton learn for a year or so. The best case scenario is a Brett Favre-Aaron Rodgers or a Brees-Rivers type situation, which I would have loved.

I agree that's the best scenario but we can win NOW our way Atl did it Nyj did it its about weapons for your rookie QB and strong coaching. I know our boy isn't a Matt Ice type but you never know how people elevator there game. I can't wait to see if he can do that because our defense should b a top ten or really close to it if the offense makes plays and scores we should easily win 9-10 games in all seriousness after checking the schedule.

They don't have to start Newton this year. But sooner or later we have to get a franchise QB to have long term success. Whether it is Cam, or Jimmy (stop laughing), the only way they are going to develop is to play.

I for one am tired of just trying to get by with a decent QB. I am a greedy fan, and I want a star at the most important position on the field. Not for the exposure the team would get or the notoriety, but because that is what it takes to win in this league given the current rules.

      OK, switching gears here a bit because I did not want to start a thread about uniforms again because this is tongue-in-cheek humor----or is it?    Background Information:  My wife is a Taylor Swift fan (A Swiftee).  She says that Taylor Swift puts subtle "clues" in her videos and lyrics, hinting what might be coming soon.  Here is an example of clues that may indicate future releases or upcoming events:    I see a lot of similarities between Dan Morgan and Taylor Swift.  They both spend a lot of money and time on their hair.  They both have the same vowel (a) in their first names.  Taylor Swift has 11 letters in her first and last name and was born in 1989.  Morgan was born in 1978--11 years earlier.  Eerie.  So it is probable that Morgan drops hints when he is on Television.  Most recently, I noticed a shot during his appearance on Pat McAfee's show.  See if you can notice it.  I will give you 30 seconds (30 second pause).  OK, did you see it? In the bottom left hand corner of the photo, it appears that he has a canister of roll-on deodorant.  I am guess "Axe" scented.  Just to the right of his shoulder, I see a smoothie mixer, probably a Ninja "Bullet."  "Axe" and "Bullet?" We are going to war, it seems. Then there are two mini helmets, one being Morgan's alma mater, but it is also a symbol for "hurricanes."  Fall is hurricane season, the season during which we shall go to war. Between the two helmets, there is a framed, blurry, red herring clue--Morgan's gold-plated volunteer junior deputy badge.  But the real clue is there, in the far right hand corner of the picture---a WHITE Carolina Panther helmet.  Not silver.  WHITE.  Hmmmm.  A WHITE Panther helmet in the GM's office.  What could that mean?  Men with war axes wear helmets.  Men going to war with bullets wear helmets.  Men in hurricanes wear helmets (I am speculating).  White helmets to usher in hurricane season.  The calm before the storm.  I forgot was I was doing here and think I have veered from my point, but you get the idea.

      #1 defense in the NFL. A bunch of rookies wasn't gonna help that unit. Yet out there with UDFAs starting on the oline and nutting up the Super Bowl.

      Yeah, yanking the tag on Norman when he did after free agency was basically over caused him to go into the draft absolutely desperate and forced to just spam picks at CB simply to field a secondary. The end result was predictable. Man, I'll never forget Julio just streaking down the field wide ass open over and over and over again in that game. I honestly think he could've gone for 500 yards of the game had been competitive enough to justify them continuing to throw.
