Reporter Rumor: Panthers Interested in Malcom Floyd

I don't understand how we can have Floyd AND a CB. TBH at some point I would like another rotational DT as well. Reported earlier that we are 1 Mil over the cap right now, and while extending Kalil will get us under, if I had to guess he would end up making anywhere from the 5-8 Million dollar range this season, even if its on the low side, that would put us at only 5-6 mil under the cap, possibly enough to sign Malcom Floyd, but definitely not enough to get him and a corner, not to mention asante who would be a 6-8 Mil cap hit this year(read that somewhere but couldnt find where).

I don't know who the Panther's could afford to cut at this point to free up more cap room? Who are some expendable players who make a decent amount? Maybe restructuring would be key? Steve Smith? Jordan Gross? Chris Gamble? Those 3 come to mind, but I can't see them being willing to restructure when JR just handed out a shyt ton of money to a bunch of other players.

CB and DT come first, as they'd help complete our defense. Although Floyd would give Cam a tall person (6'5 yes? Tallest is Lafell at 6'2 I believe) to throw to, would be a great addition. But like I said, and what has probably been said before, getting a CB or DT (both is best) comes first as we have a decent receivers core already.

I think the Laurent Robinson signing today takes us out of the running. We're just about at the cap figure right now as well.

By "Us" you mean the chargers, I just spent 15 minutes trying to find somewhere that the panthers signed laurent robinson.

Oh wow, I probably should have looked at his then. Even with the slight height advantage, Floyd has experience and just like Moss did with Britt last season and teach the taller a few guys a thing or two that Smith cannot due to him being shorter. I dunno, I just think he'd be a good edition to the team. But like I said, CB and DT some first.

- by Jason Butt - Report: Ravens offer Floyd $3 million per year

WR Malcom Floyd may have received an offer he can't refuse. The Ravens have offered Floyd over $3 million per year, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. If the Ravens obtain him, Floyd would balance the offensive attack out with his ability to stretch defenses down the field. Chargers RapidReports

    • Exactly He's played two seasons and started 28 games. He's well beyond the point of being able to point to 2 or 3 games and being able to say, "THAT is the QB he is and will be in the future" Of course he can get there, but anyone trying to use just those couple of games to rank his place amongst the games QB's today and their full career's worth of playing at that level, is just asinine. Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Hurts, Herbert, Daniels, Stafford, Goff, Geno, Purdy, Baker, Love, Dak, Tua, Kyler, Lawrence That's 17 QB's right there that have played better over their careers than Bryce has played at his best.  And I'm not saying they're all studs or guys I'd want to be our QB moving forward, Tua for example I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, but his body of work is a million times better than Bryce's has been. It's also not including any of the other QB's drafted in 2023/2024 other than Daniels. So again, say you believe in Bryce, say you think he's going to prove he can and should be our QB of the future, that's all fair and totally fine. But nobody can say he's been an above average QB in his career thus far, it's just an asinine notion.
    • I'd think we could get one of those from Dallas for... whatever.
