Cam's accuracy

I didn't start this thread based on 2 rookie camp reports, but based on Cam's college career and predraft workouts to this point. His accuracy in not good compared to many NFL level QBs let alone the 1st pick overall. Hopefully it will improve is all I'm saying.

To the stat posters, you can have a high completion % in college and not be nearly NFL accurate

And you can't make judgements on NFL accuracy based on two practices.

Look at McNabb's success in Philly....how many winning seasons and how many postseason runs did they have? How was his accuracy?

Cam has tons of talent. He has no accuracy issues going deep. He might not be Peyton Manning but I am not overally concerned......sure it isn't great but he should improve as time goes on. He knows he has to work on his accuracy short and mid range......he has enough talent and a skill set to offset that negative to some a large degree.

Basically this.

I could see Newton as a McNabb doppleganger, and that's how I see it. Maybe if you want another comparable, Big Ben.

Mcnabb wasn't deadly accurate. Cam won't be all the time either. But just a guy who finds a way to make plays.

Im just worried about his composure in the pocket. He wont be able to do the same things he did in college.

From what I have seen from my experience at practice Monday, I think you need to edit this to take out that last sentence.

Cam's composure is fine. He's going to look a bit panicky at times, because the offense is new to him and he has a lot more pressure on him to perform here. He will be fine once he gets a few games under his belt and is able to relax and adjust to the speed of the game at this level.

there have been plenty of great quarterbacks that had very questionable accuracy coming into the league. i dont know where you come off thinking steve young and vick had good accuracy when they came into the league. it took young time to develop into an elite passer... and do you not remember vick with the falcons? terrible passer.

I don't think people truly understand what Carolina got in Clausen. Enjoy the next 10 years, it should be a lot of fun. As soon as he adjusts to NFL speed (I'm guessing 1 year), Carolina is going to bitch slap their division.

Kinda like when Drew Brees, arguably the most accurate QB in the NFL, went 11-20 at his combine?? "But they were open *derp* no defense *derp*... *smh*

Well, no poo. What, do you expect guys to hit a switch and be Tom Brady or Peyton Manning immediately? Peyton's first season was far less than spectacular. Now, most would consider him a hall of famer, if not a first ballot hall of famer. If you mean NFL level QBs as in their rookie years...again, look at Peyton, Vick, Sanchez, etc.

Seriously, do you think before you type, or do you just blurt out whatever sounds good?

    • "by name"?  You mean they are letting him say he is retiring or stepping down? That's even more embarrassing than being fired (he basically quit) and so transparently false that the media will kill him and this university.  If this happens, I may just turn full fledge to an SMU fan since I live in Dallas now. I'm just about sick of this university's approach to basketball and football.
