Let's assume Jimmy Clausen has a successful season as starter for the Panthers in

I compare this to whats going on in Denver.

The Fans want The Golden Calf of Bristol.

The coach likes what he see in Orton.

The owner wants asses in the seats...

Who plays?

Except Rivera doesn't like what he sees in Orton more than Newton. Jimmy is clearly starting now to try and showcase him a bit, and to give Cam some more time learning, he's only had a couple weeks with the coaches, give him a few more before throwing him out to first team defenses.

no it's not, because john fox is literally like the al borland of the nfl and will always go with the "steady hand" at veteran QB instead of a younger, flashier passer. Ron Ron's a little more open minded

Jimmy has the potential to be a great QB, in the right system and with the right development just as a lot of other guys. Jimmy had a great high school career, which came over to college after roughing out some kinks and look what he achieved?

There is something about Jimmy -- that I see in him -- that I just don't see in Cam. People are expecting the Jimmy from last year, however now he has a healthy o-line (skilled too) and a new offensive style to play with. Why can't he become the starter for the Panthers?

It's so funny jimmy has a couple of good practices and suddenly he's gonna be the net coming of favre. hilarious how desperate we are.

Who said he's the next Favre? =o That's a bit silly.

I've seen people compare him using his body to throw the ball stronger then solely with arm strength.

    • Thielen was a "dawg" like Dan Morgan likes to say. And they replaced him with puppies.  The analytics are probably saying this is more targets for younger receivers they are hoping to develop, specifically the first round pick from 2025. The eye test is going to show a very inexperienced group of WRs that are going to have some serious growing pains, for a 3rd year QB who has not yet proven to be the guy going forward.  It's crazy how in the literal first game of his NFL career, Cam Newton showed everyone he was a star QB and there was never any doubt about that. It almost didn't even matter who was around him, although he definitely had a serious lack of talent at WR for most of his career. Bryce is going into his third season and there is still a ton of doubt, and who is around him is seen as crucial for him to have success. I don't like it.
    • Everyone says AT was old and slow but the one thing he could do consistently was get separation. That takes skill and it's been a huge issue in our WR for years. And while Moore may be a great locker room guy and our WR coach may be a 12 year vet, he's not playing in the game. Vets like AT do what they do because they can see things others don't and exploit it. The DB interview I mentioned before was with Stephon Gilmore after his DPOY season. He was pulling the younger DBs aside showing them things you wouldn't even think you'd be able to tell from the way the receiver was standing.  Seeing what a DB or LB is biting on in game that can give you that half step advantage is huge and we don't have that experience in our WR group right now and I think it could end up hurting us. None of our receivers have lined up against NFL corners successfully on a regular basis. Having someone that can walk over and give you a tip to get a half yard separation can be a difference maker.
