Jon Gruden thinks Terrelle Pryor may be better than Newton

but why would Carolina want to get this guy to backup??? they have Clausen under contract and Anderson. it doesnt make sense. i dont see them putting a bid on Pryor, NOW if they DO play the supplemental draft look for them to put bids on a cornerback and McAdoo, i dont see them putting a bid on Pryor. i think the teams that bid for Pryor are Dallas, Cleveland, Washington, Miami, Seattle and San Francisco.

They wouldn't put a claim in for Pryor. Just saying, their games are similar and he would be an ideal backup for Cam because we would not have to change the playbook if Cam went down with an injury.

Michael McAdoo is a good young prospect...TP is also a good young prospect

The Panthers need good young prospects at DE much more so than at QB

See Dick run.

Don't know anything about McAdoo's game but it seems we are content at the DE position. CJ/Hardy/Brown/Norwood.. don't see any room for McAdoo.

So some guy said that he heard Gruden said that Prior may be better than Newton. Why get upset about that? Has Gruden actually said it? I doubt he would go on record, even if he did. Some of you take this stuff way too personally.

BTW, Prior *may* in fact be better than Newton someday, but I seriously doubt anyone thinks he will. If you let his actions speak for him, he's still got a ten cent head, and will get stupid the minute he has a contract.

Guys guys guys it has to be true. People told me yesterday that they get paid for their opinion so it has to be right and we shouldn't even have our own and just listen to them.

We must cut Cam Newton and draft Pryor.

xxlightsoutxx? The other half a retard in that thread?

Where are you now?

mcadoo is a pretty decent end. good size, speed, etc.. after looking at the game saturday we do need depth at that spot.

Oh look, TRD posting in a thread about Newton not being a good player... big surprise! I guess it's either this one, or back to the one he started about how bad Cam is.

I never said how bad he is, just posted my observations from the game and said it wasn't as good as others make it out to be.

They know more than us right or wrong?

Cut Cam, sign Pryor

their games are similar and he would be a great backup, but i doubt they get him and honestly, i want Pryor to go to a team where he will start in time. if he goes to carolina he will never start unless Cam got hurt.

Why am I not surprised PFT would try to Push Pryor ahead of the QB they didn't like. Funny but everyone seems to be comparing other QBs to Cam. If he's nothing but a second rate or a project QB as so fondly push then why compare anyone to him. Is that a true test of how good those other QBs?

Would u put ur kid up against a second rate student or the best in the class?

John Fox was labeled a Defensive Guru, I never quite understood that.. Just look at the stats the years he was a DC. Not pretty!

I'd take Jon Gruden as a coach 10 times over John Fox. Is he a QB Guru? I dont think so, but he knows a hell of a lot more about football than anyone else on this forum.

i see room for McAdoo and why, well first off Everette Brown so far hasnt been great and if we cut some backup DEs not called Brown, then we can add McAdoo as a project DE. he's 6-7 and that's amazing size for a player. he is worth a look, especially if Hardy cant come back or if Brown doesnt start to emerge, i say draft McAdoo on his potential and he's a former Tarheel so he makes the local fans happy.

    • The Seahawks won an emotional, divisional, overtime rivalry game vs the Rams on a Thursday night (Dec 18).  That gives them 10 days to prepare for the Panthers, but the Christmas holiday fell a week later--I bet they were afforded an extra day for travel-many coming back east.  Following the Panthers, Seattle plays at San Francisco for the division title (in all probability).   The Rams finish the season with games against the Falcons and Cardinals, two likely wins, pushing them to 13-4.  The Niners finish the season with home games against the Bears and Seahawks. Seattle finishes the season with the Panthers on the road and SF in California.   It is easy to see how preparing for the Panthers, during the holiday break and with the Niners waiting for them in SF a week later for (what could be) the NFC West title and #1 Seed in the NFC, could create the perfect trap game scenario.  The Panthers at home are 5-2.   In the past 2 weeks, the Seahawks struggled to beat the Phillip Rivers Colts in Seattle and then pulled off a miraculous, emotional victory at home vs. the Rams.  I am not convinced that they are as good as advertised. Seattle is a TD favorite in Charlotte.  I feel that Carolina by 3 may be more accurate.  While I am still not confident in this team's consistency and it never seems to dominate, it sure feels like a trap game for Seattle to me.  How could they NOT be thinking of San Francisco right now?  They are not used to being in this position (current players) and it is human nature.  Carolina 27, Seattle 24.
    • It is a tough decision.  There is another factor.  Is he in game shape?  A tired Hunt is not better than an "in-shape" Corbett.  When coming off an injury, it is natural to want to protect the injured area, even if it is completely healed.  This can cause you to contort your body for no reason, lose fundamentals, and it could lead to other injuries.  For example, I had a knee in high school that required getting taped.  That made me aware of the knee (not used to tape on my knee) and I pulled my groin (favoring or dragging the leg with the tape).  The trainer explained the groin injury the way I do here--but scared money makes no money.  If he is cleared to play, he is cleared to play.  Watch him, rotate him in for a series, etc.  Specifically, I would want to watch the matchup--who is winning more--Corbett or Hunt?  How is the defense reacting (if at all) to Hunt being in?  Etc.
    • Shannon was sued for $50 million (settled out of court, I believe) for forcing sex on his girlfriend during a two-year relationship.  He denies it, but ESPN let him go last April.  Chad Johnson's wife filed a police report because he head-butted her in a car and was put on probation. I had to google it.  I watched the Ray Rice video and when you see it, you realize just how vile and cowardly abusing a woman really is.  But for the same point Aussie tried to make, these women are defenseless, and being phyiscally bigger and stronger does not validate your actions.   I can't even stand to watch Steve Smith.  I can't normalize this kind of behavior--again, I do not think R-P had that in mind when he posted this.  When the reason was exposed, we should realize that we are talking life (quality of) and death (in some cases) here.
