Torry Holt Asks for his release

I couldn't say that I wouldn't want to see him in a Carolina jersey, but with Muhammed here and Jarret needing some p.t. if he is ever going to amount to anything, I say its not likely.

I take winning over developing a guy in a heart beat.

The question is who will give you the better chance of winning?

Torry Holt in Carolina will not happen. The only possible way it'd ever happen is if he decides to basically play for peanuts due to the crappy cap situation.

Not only that, but he isn't a good blocker like Moose. Jarrett deserves one more year to show if he can be a starter (plus, with his size, he could end up being another Moose replacement. Possession receiver that isn't afraid to make blocks.)

It'd be pretty cool to see Holt come to Carolina, and seeing a Smitty/Moose/Holt lineup would sure be fun. But it won't happen.

I could see him hitting up Dallas, San Fran, etc. He'll go to a team that has a hole at WR and deep pockets.

Neither since Delhomme wouldn't throw it to either one more than 2 or 3 times the entire season.

Seriously, you make Panthers fans look like idiots. Look at the stats. Delhomme throws to other targets. Don't be stupid.

He was exaggerating sure, but I wouldn't call him stupid. Jake does tend to force it to Smith way to much (and defenses know it). Very rarely do you ever see him check down to a TE or RB. It's smith 55% of the time, Moose 30%, TE 10%, RB and WR #3 5%

Did you actually look at the numbers before you made your statement.

Jake completed 246 passes in the regular season in 2008-

78 to Smith -----------------32%

65 to Moose -----------------26%

39 to running backs ----------16%

39 to tight ends--------------16%

25 to other receivers----------10%

These ridiculous statements like "He only throws ro Smith" are perpetuated by folks like you who don't actually do any research.

Facts-

He found Moose almost as often as Smith.

He threw to his tight ends and backs as often as he did Smith.

Smith accounted for less than 1/3 of Jake's completions.

Same thing goes for his early 2007 season before the injury.

I usually don't use anything Yas says and don't like to do so either. That being said he thinks there's a good chance that Holt would come back to NC and play for less then he would otherwise. We do like to bring in older players from the area later on in their careers.

    • Yeah it is nice seeing some improvement on the defensive side and the young guys.   I don’t want to think about the future much if Bryce doesn’t heal and we are kept in this limbo via an incomplete test. It is depressing  I don’t have quite as dim a view of the 24 draft class as you do   I have modest hopes for XL compared to none. I like CSW.  Am a little cooler on Sanders but at the same time realized this week that Morgan getting that future 2nd for moving down turned into Scourton. I think. Jackson is a real value in exchange for the guy we took with the 7th. I don’t expect anything from Brooks but Wallace seems to have improved enough to not bust. And Coker is in with them, but is giving us nothing this year. So far, and it is almost half over     I hope Andy still has enough to make watching the offense less of a claustrophobic experience. And there is a small chance we upset the Bills but just playing them tough and making it a fun game to watch will be enough.
    • Bryce haters gunna hate.  Can't change that. Bryce has been pretty durable all things considered.  A couple minor injuries considering how much he was hammered year 1.  And he still takes hits.  Dude is tough. The play in question is a football play, poo happens.  That's ultimately what happened.  Guys running around, trying to stop Young and stuff happened.  Sucks but that's how it goes. For me, I'd rather see Young play.  He will either prove that he's the Dude, a JAG (leaning heavily right now), or an outright bust (some of you were there on draft night, lol)
    • I think we need to let the 2025 class develop. Remember at one point early during last season the 2024 class was gonna be a killer. And we had all kinds of people chirping about how the 2021 Draft was the greatest of all time. Early returns are promising. Let's hope it continues.
