just making a point to those over-shooting the mark.. talk about the drops all you want, I'm just saying that is about the extent of the conversation, and doesn't have much implication on what that means for his future.. entirely too early to tell at this point.

so far, I very much like the flashes I see..

who here wants to drop AE because of tonight and/or thinks he'll never learn how to catch the ball?

please log off and come back in 2-3 years when you're opinion might actually be relevant..

Not AE's problem per se (this IMO is a Hurney fug up) but you can't invest a 2nd round pick (33rd overall) in a player that is going to take 4-5 years to pan out.

Put AE on the practice squad this year - what team would pick him up?

31 other teams watching the potential he's shown this preseason.. especially considering they aren't completely short-sighted to the extent where waiting 2-3 years to figure out his true value/potential is unfathomable...

I understand people's concern with that, but he's on the team now. no offense, bringing that up has absolutely nothing to do with how to proceed with this guy in the future..

hopefully Hurney doesn't bet the farm like he attempted with Fox..

right now he is a liability. bobbling balls like that can (and did, tonight) cause interceptions.

however, compare him to the player he was a year ago and look at the progress made. he has given us no reason to believe that he's stopped making progress, that he won't continue to make progress, that he won't continue on his current trajectory of becoming a major playmaker by next year.

give the kid a year of learning with decent quarterback play before demanding he be cut/beheaded.

Who has looked better than him at receiver in preseason? We throw to him more than anyone because he seems to get open. Yes he had some drops tonight....but they all were contended. I would have loved to see him hall in that little across route for the touchdown. Everything he does gets so much overreaction between both sides. He has a few good punt returns and we have the new Hester. He drops some tough passes and he needs to get cut.

Exactly. At least he seemed like he was consistently getting open which is better than anyone on the roster outside of smitty, shockey, and Olsen. He needs to work on it but he has made tremendous strides and it was obvious Rivera wanted to give some looks as the #3 WR

    • I mean I just don't understand the argument. Baker and Sam both have been pro bowl QBs post their time here. And you just said yourself that is due to him having a damn good roster around him and they are well coached. You're even saying the bad baker is still there somewhere, but he is in a good organization with good roster and coaching that they are getting the best out of him. Why does Baker and Sam get all that benefit of the doubt but when it comes to Bryce it must be a BY9 problem, not an org or team problem?  Hell I got a guy below you arguing with me that Chark/Hurst/Mingo sucked because Bryce wouldn't throw them open. It's ridiculous how far the stretch goes.
    • Correct.  It’s really hard to get open in the NFL when opposing defenses gameplan and cheat coverage/routes on all your players because they know your QB can’t make certain throws/plays.   magically no one that comes to Carolina can get open or make plays with the ball in their hands…..it’s like there is one singular common dominator to it all.  BY makes playing defense way too easy.   NFL players are too good to allow one side to cheat coverage and not respect all the potential threats of a route  so you can dial up a great play.  But if corners and safeties just cheat coverage and know X and Y happening on route/threats….getting open gets hard when they just play it one way.  Getting open has a lot to do with the different threats a WR can pose on a given play.
    • Kinda depends how you look at it both were 3rd round draft pics.  Nico was nothing before stroud and tank came in with stroud.  If both were on the panthers would young have them doing well and starting or would their stats be low.  I really dont know the answer to that.  None of the panthers wrs have left and did well either but personally i feel neither of nico or tank would do much on the panthers.
