i have to disagree with you on this, you can draft a rb anywhere & get production(think sutton). most people thought stewart was a power back in the steven davis mold & would supplant williams as the starter at some point

And most GMs would have let Stewart supplant Wiliiams this year and thrown that cash elsewhere

Stewart is not Davis.....he is better.

Some may not want to hear it or don't want to accept it, but I think Fox had a lot of power when it came to who was on the team and who was kicked.

Absolutely--He had to. The last draft Fox had input was the Stewart/Otah draft. After that, Fox was told he would not be renewed and Hurfox died. Marty started freelancing. Does anyone think Fox would have drafted Clausen--knowing he was a project? Marty wanted to trade up for him (as stated) and offered the Rams our first rounder in 2011 for the right to do so. Clausen was a project and Fox knew he would never be good in his scheme. Then he trades up for Armanti Edwards. To make matters worse, he drafts Eric Norwood in the fourth round with no fifth round pick. Norwood was a 3-4OLB on nearly every board. Fortunately, Gettis and Hardy drop in his lap, along with Pugh. I mean, how often are 2 rookie QBs drafted by the same team in the same draft? Hurney was exposed in this draft.

I think the way he handled free agency a few weeks ago exposed him more. He overpaid and once again, failed to address needs at CB, DT, and WR. Hurney needs to go.

Thank you... I feel like I was alone in seeing Hurney was a idiot

So many people were saying good ridance to Fox, but Hurney seemed to get a pass..

Greg Olsen was a huge pick up in FA. I think Hurney is in the mind to build in the draft.

A lot of high profile FA signings do not work out and waste a lot of money. Look at the Redskins.

Honestly its up to Cam, the kid has a lot on his shoulders:

If Cam works out, and so does McClain, Edwards, and Lafell, then Hurney will be riding high. I'm not sure if Lafell was the right choice but Gettis could ultimately make up for it.

It really all comes down to Cam. The boy really has the weight of the world on his shoulders.

people still get this wrong.

stewart was drafted because williams was the only capable back on the roster and fox/hurney didn't want to repeat the disastrous 2005 season.

...the 2009 and 2010 seasons say they made the right choice.

yea...

10-22

boy investing so much in the backs really helped us get to that next level

Unfortunately it is true Fox had way too much power. I am hoping now that JR is back in charge fully that he, and Rivera have a plan they agree on and they tell Hurney to draft what they say and STFU otherwise.
