Peyton to IR?

The latest on Colts QB Peyton Manning. Jake Query, a radio host on WNDE in

Indianapolis is reporting that sources are telling him that Peyton Manning

is out for the year.

Query posted this on his twitter feed today:

"What I (Query) said: A source I consider reliable told me he is out for the

season. I do believe that the actual diagnosis is still being determined"

Query then followed that with: "I (Query) was also told the 3rd procedure has

taken place, either Sun or Monday."

Understand that this is not official by any stretch. This is a radio host in

Indianapolis (that I don't know much about) saying this is what his sources

are telling him.

It certainly fits with the worse case scenarios we've been envisioning but it

should be stressed that we have no facts or words from the Colts to back this up.

It's also worth noting that the Colts and Bill Polian are going to be the absolute

last people on earth to tell us this.

My gut feel is that I'd positively let someone else take the chance on Manning at

just about any price right now. I know some are saying now is the time to scoop

him up for pennies. I'm not one of those guys.

This is perhaps not related in any way shape or form, but I think it's worth

understanding that Peyton's older brother, Cooper, quit football after it was

discovered he had a congenital spine issue. I'm NOT saying Peyton has the same

issue. But I am saying Cooper's issue is something he thinks about as he plans

his future. It would be impossible for it not to be considered for him.

I don't think so... if anything, I think Bill Polian et al should be held responsible for not having something in place earlier

That is true, but I think this season would also expose Jim Caldwell as a coach....

Honestly the difference between him and Singletary is that he had Manning while singletary had Smith...

I have seen so many games including the superbowl where Caldwell has been out coached badly IMO. It's just Peyton being peyton covers up his flaws. Without Peyton his coaching skills will be put to the test and I am betting on him failing hard.

:iagree:

Lets be honest here... sans Manning, Caldwell inherited Dungy's work, and failed to go all the way with it.

BUT....

:iagree:

I do also agree with Polian being responsible for resting on the laurels of having a QB phenom in his pocket and not keeping the rest of the team fresh and competative.

However, the two aspects here are not completely co-dependent because of what Manning has delivered for years with the Colts. How hard is it to win games with Peyton Manning back there calling change ups to the play at the line 50% of the time (or more).

This is going to expose both of them... but ask yourself... of the two... who is going to take more blame? I'm going to say Caldwell.

I think he is done - colts will have the worst record in the NFL and draft Andrew Luck.

SMH the rich get richer

IDK man... they paid Manning a ton of money to sit on the sidelines.

And their division is weaker this year than it has been in awhile. The Titans are in rebuild mode, the Jags have some serious issues... only Houston looks to be a contender. I don't think they will be the worst in the league though. That is gonna be the Skins... I just have a feeling...

The interesting thing here, is that it looks like this is the first year the Texans go to the playoffs. I'm kinda glad for them. They've come really really close a number of times.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
