Green Bay's pass defense

GB is NOT going to blitz as much.

AZ took the typical formula for beating a rookie QB and it didn't work..GB will now know better.

They will rush 3 and 4 along with a good measure of Clay Matthews, but beyond that, they will be dedicating themselves to the Secondary-where they are solid.

Expect us to be much more run heavy this week until they start creeping up in the box, THEN start attempting the deep ball with PA.

Expect Shock and Thor to have monster games as well.

We can NOT get away from our gameplan.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Green Bay back off the blitz and rush 3 while putting 8 in coverage baiting Newton to run or throw into an interception. They will likely blitz somewhat but given how well Newton did against Arizona, I am not sure the all out blitz is a good idea. Even in collge, Newton was better when teams blitzed than when they didn't. If it were me I would play zone and make him fit the ball in tight windows and keep everything in front of me.

and that is when we need to time the run accurately. If they aren't run blitzing.....our backs need to step up.

No they won't, IMO. They will think they can do it better. They blitzed Brees too often and that is why the Saints had a chance to come back......

this is not capers' mo. blitzing any inexperienced qb is typically a good idea-- the cardinals secondary is just trashy

Packer fans will resent this, but their front 4 on D isn't any better than 'Zona's. Their back 7, however, is MUCH better. Along with decent depth. That said, I could see it going your way, in which case, we need to be prepared for. Clay Matthews is a pass rushing LB though, a very effective one at that. I could see them starting out with him as their lone blitzer and adding more if needed. We've got some great minds on this team though, I trust them to adjust accordingly, unlike Fox.

Yesterday's game may give Caper's pause. Newton didn't look very inexperienced.

As for the secondary, I don't know that the 400 yards they gave up to the Saints represents a great secondary. There were a lot of receivers wide open for the Saints. When you zoneblitz and don't get there, receivers are going to be open, plain and simple.

    • He won't be there by the time our pick comes back around in the second round. We've got to move in the first. Maybe, if the waters seem calm at the time, trade back with Buffalo and pick him then.  Oh what the hell. Grab him if he's there in the first and then roll on. Take Jalon Kilgore, the safety out of SC in the second, and Lee Hunter the DT from Texas Tech in the third. And somewhere deep in the draft snag Caden Barnett "the Vanilla Gorilla" RT from Wyoming to study behind all of our linemen and set up to take over for one of them in 2027.
    • Also, I think Schrager has a pretty good feel on the Panthers as far as national guys go.  Wouldn't surprise me if plan number one is Thieneman. McShay echoed it recently on one of his pod appereances where teams/players he felt most confident in, the 2nd one out of his mouth was Thieneman to the Panthers. If he's gone, trade down is our next favorite option IMO since we may like guys like Rodriguez and KC more than others in the supposed 19 range.
    • ^I want that, but Rodriguez over KC. Don't hate KC as much at that spot, but rather take a WR with the pick we gain in that trade than in the 1st.
