Green Bay? Playoffs? Unrealistic? Fine: let's talk reality!

All I'm saying is, we're going to have a group of fudge packers come into OUR house this Sunday, and some of you are just all ready to bend over and take it?

SCREW THAT! I wanna kick their ass, shove their face in the dirt, and take their damn cheerleaders away from them. That's what I wanna do!

I can say ... "Hell Yeah" to that..... The last thing I want on Sunday is to be surrounded by a bunch of the other teams fans screaming in my ear :gnorsi:

Yeah, it's called not being negative. Some people's choosing to be "real" are just people that are afraid to believe in the team that we all love. Be positive, "keep pounding", have faith, be a fan. Based off of "realistic" expectations, in 2003, we had no business winning ANY of our games. Were you rooting in "reality" back then, or where you in belief that the cardiac cats could beat the Rams, could beat the Eagles, could go toe to toe with the Patriots in the best super bowl ever played.

Watered down fandom is sickening.

Were we allowed to be negative last year or do we always have to act like zombies?

I really need that playbook.

Well that actually depends on who you ask. ESPN or NFL.com. One says we are, the other say we are not. But that wasn't my point. My point is the attitude. You have 1 day and a half between now and Sunday!

Are you really going to have that much pie on your face, if you just commit 100% and act like we cam win this damn game, even if we don't get it? Whose going to care if you "were wrong" and we lose, a year from now?

Who is going to remember it? Who cares?

PS: I'm not editing that misspell. That was a total slip and I'm keeping it there.

No wrong again. ESPN has simply not incorporated all the tiebreaker rules in their standings. If you have to pick a leader of the division then we are tied with Tampa. It's a silly exercise after week 1 but you are on a roll I guess.

I have always maintained that we can win this game but the chance is like 20% in my view.

Will we have chance at beating GB this Sunday?? Chances are small but not impossible. I have faith that our team can pull out a win no matter what. But it will be a tall order. But anything can happen. All we can do wait and see. I hope Cam pull a god like game again this week like he did last week. It will be very hard but not impossible. Good luck panthers. You will need it.:biggrinjester:

I think what you don't get Happy Panther, is that some have become so negative, it's actually those guys that are acting like zombies. You're stuck in a dark hole and I'm reaching my hand out to pull you out of it....just grab it man. Or listen to a wiser man than me:

“In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.” - Bill Cosby

I don't know about you, but a W over Green Bay, outweighs my fear of loss. I don't think everyone here really realizes the MAGNITUDE of this game for the Carolina Panthers and what the snowball effect a win this Sunday would have for the remainder of our season.

I'm not saying GB isn't the better team, what I am saying is, the meaning of a win over them to us faaaar outweighs the meaning of a win for them over us. I believe our players do realize this. Our coach realizes this. And there is no way in hell our team's desire for success over Green Bay isn't going to be bigger than Green Bay's on Sunday!

No way. I even heard some of their fans use the "trap game" phrase already...GOOD!!!...I smell fear! We beat these guys, then for the first time in years we can legitimately have the attitude: "We can beat anybody".

And call me crazy but I get this vibe that everyone wants us to win. The media wants us to win. Jerry....now you know Jerry wants us to win.

We may be the underdogs, but I get the sense everyone is behind us to upset GB, even though they may not be saying it. Heck we may even get some referee love on Sunday. For once, we may get nod on the marginal calls. Everyone just seems to love Cam Newton leading this team. I mean you have mainstream media sites that somehow rated him better than Brady, for crying out loud, ever after Brady's +500 yard performance. Come on...think about it! They still have to make their predictions that GB will beat us, but you can just see it in their eyes that what they really want: is the upset of the season!

We have been complaining for years that the media doesn't notice us and gives us no love. Well they are now. Are we not going to take advantage of it and make a statement, because "we may be not ready yet" and don't have all our ducks in a row or we have some injuries? Who knows when we'll get this opportunity again. If there ever was a time to win DESPITE our shortcomings, it's this sunday!

you use a lot of words.

I would go nuts if we beat the Pack and it would be huge for the franchise.

We all agree with that...

I'm the kind of fan that believes "realistically" their are some areas that aren't up to snuff yet, but I scream at the tv and cheer the team on for three hours every sunday. I will tell you this though, I am really excited about the team and about what went down on sunday. Cam has real talent, and honestly I believe that we got someone really special and it makes me glad to call myself a panthers fan and to be excited for the season no matter what their record is in the end.

The bottom line is, Just entertain me and I'll keep coming back.

I have to ask how there is a tiebreaker rule after one week where? Points scored?

Tiebreaker is hypothetical at this point.

There are tiebreaker rules to see who wins the division after week 17 which go like this:

Three or More Clubs

(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated during any step, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of the two-club format).

Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games among the clubs).

Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.

Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.

Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.

Strength of victory.

Strength of schedule.

Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.

Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.

Best net points in common games.

Best net points in all games.

Best net touchdowns in all games.

Coin toss

Which means the current leader of the division would be decided by a coinflip.

Neato.

I buy Ron's opinion that the Arizona game came down to six plays...and if any of those went our way we come away with the W. The lack of prep time for this team is really making things tougher than they should be and I hope the obvious mental errors that killed us in week one will be repaired. I hope the home atmosphere on Sunday sends an extra jolt through this team. Could be the x-factor the team needs to make magic. No telling until Sunday. I'm certain the fans that attended the pre-season games in Charlotte didn't have any idea that Cam would be coming off the performance he turned in for the 'zona game for the home opener. Should be fun.

And just for the record, if we do beat GB Sunday, we will become THE team to beat in the NFC South, because the Saints....previously seen as the best team in the NFC South, got their asses kicked by them. We beat GB you're going to see a whole new attitude and outlook when talks of the NFC South and Carolina Panthers come around. Just imagine how this team will feel if for the rest of our divisional games we can go in with the attitude that we are the first team to take down the defending Superbowl Champions. You can't BUY that kind of confidence! We literally are 1 win, this Sunday's win, from turning our whole image around 180 degrees! This game is more important than you could possibly imagine for out team's morality, so start making some freaking noise! Go to the game if you have money! Scream your lungs out during the game! Talk poo. Whatever it takes to help, legal or not, as long as you get away with it! If you work in the GB's packers hotel, reset their alarm clocks. Stall them before the game. Put ex-lax in their orange juice! Help out! BE A FAN!

You have no idea of the POWER of the DARKSIDE!

    • I had started typing my post hours ago and didn’t finish it and just came back to finish it, posted it, then saw yours and saw we were pretty much saying the same thing - even the games that stick out to us most.  I don’t think a lot of people remember that SF playoff game, but I felt like I had just got mugged in broad daylight.  I remember them calling Mitchell for unnecessary roughness, and then I remember watching Boldin take a super late cheap shot, dead in front of the ref and then showing him watching the whole thing in replay…  the refs let them have a fuging field day and didn’t do jack poo, but if we so much as breathed the wrong way it was fuging 15 yards.  Each team playing under two completely different sets of rules.  poo hurt.  I was enraged.  I’ve never went back to watch either that game or SB50 and never will.  fuging robbery.
    • I’ve said it a million times since, but it’s impossible to keep them from affecting the game.  In SB50, they literally took the game from us, and they did it early.  Cotchery’s no-catch?  The miraculous amount of times we converted for a first down only to have it suddenly called back make it a 3rd down and 15+ against the best defense in the league that specialized in rushing the passer and man coverage on the back end?  And you do that enough times, you kill the morale and confidence of the team you’re doing it against.  It’s telling the one team “you can do whatever with impunity” and the other “you can’t do whatever they’re allowed to do.”  It changes the aggression level.  It essentially neuters one team and allows the other to do whatever the fug they want.  Imagine you call the police for help and they get there and tell you to sit still while the other party beats the poo out of you and you can’t defend yourself.  That’s what the officials do.  There is no way to avoid them affecting the game.  And more often than not, it’s the most subjective calls they use to do so.  Even in SB50…  you saw the Broncos commit more egregious penalties than anything we did, and barely any of it was called.  Their OL was holding all fuging game and the refs did nothing.  We already had our work cut out for us against two future HOF edge rushers and the refs played to their advantage with that.  From what I remember, both Oher and Remmers were called for holding at various times and their hands were in the INSIDE of the defender.  It was garbage, but all by design. Also, if there is any video of it anywhere, go look at what the refs did against us back in 2013 against SF.  The fix was in there too.  They stepped in early and often and ensured we knew we were not allowed to play with the same aggression or intensity SF was.  It was disgusting as well. at this point, I hope Vince McMahon, errr, I mean Goodell just finally scripts us to win it, because this poo is not won via competition or off merit.
    • You can go back to the New York Knicks somehow getting Patrick Ewing.  I saw a story where they place the New York Knick card in the freezer right before the drawing.  It was simple.  Show everyone the cards are undetectable to the human eye.  All they had to do was grab the coldest card. IMO ever since Goodell took over the NFL it has been fishy.  Patriots winning the SB after 9/11, New Orleans after Katrina and Peyton Manning's going away gift against us. The terrible calls during that game were blatantly one sided.  New England should have been stripped of their first 3 SB when they were caught spying on the other team in their SB wins.  I think the evidence against the Patriots was so damning Goodell felt it could ruin football and they brushed it under the table.   In the 2004 SB, How did we go from practically no yards in the first Quarter to setting a record in the 3rd Qtr.  Dan Henning changes the game plan.  IMO probably the greatest half time adjustment of all time.
