Did anyone hear what Meril Hodge had to say...

Whoops!:jc:

Oh my sweet lord. How have these morons made a freaking CAREER out of "scouting" players. That shows me two things...Either:

A - They actually spend zero time watching these players on a consistent basis and solely look at stats, size, and the system they played in.

B - They are morons that cannot evaluate talent.

This makes me hope even more that The Golden Calf of Bristol gets the start this year and leads the Broncos to the playoffs.

I like Hoge a lot and do consider him to be one of the better, more informed analysts on ESPN - but I doubt he's going to change his tune about Cam in fear of losing face.

I'm totally surprised by Cams performances, but let's try to keep it in perspective guys. 2 games, don't crown him yet.

I really don't see why folks are surprised by Cam's performance when he was doing the same thing pretty much through-out college. And what crown are we placing on his head? That he deserves a chance to play at the QB positions that is readily handed to guys like Blaine Gabbert, Eli Manning, and Matt Safford.

I don't see why the test for Cam to be accept as a legit QB in this league is made three times more difficult than what the Sam Bradfords or even worst the Andrew Lucks...Who pretty much is guaranteed a spot at the head QB table with the likes of Peyton and Tom Brady without even proving he can play the game on the NFL level, have to go through. Heck I watched Sam play last night and he is a work in progress. So is Eli but no one is saying they don't belong or they still need to prove themselves.

The level this ish with Cam has gone too is ridiculous and the fact that it's so easily accepted without much pushback in this time and day is very disturbing.

i don't care much about hoge one way or another. being on espn makes him irrelevant, imo.

the only guy i'm interested in hearing from about cam is mayock and he's supposed to be talking about breakout rookies. pretty much every one of his criticisms of newton has been proven to be BS so far so i'm interested to see how this "guru" spins it or if he mans up and admits he was wrong.

whether this guy praises or hates on Cam Newton, has no affect on him one way or the other because the only person that can control that is Cam, so this matters because???
mental chamber.

from a fan's perspective, i just want his critics to be seen for the narrow minded people they are.

    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
