Flacco vs. Newton

grabbed Newton at the end of the draft and Flacco in rd 6. I really thought Flacco was at the top of the second tier of qb's and would put up consistent #'s. Newton was a homer pick.

I fake-started Cam in week one and switched to Flacco at the last moment just to mess with opponent. I planned to start Flacco all along. And when Flacco posted strong #'s I looked like a genius..... until the AZ game and Cam's performance.

In week two I seriously thought about starting Cam but GB defense and what I thought would be a good matchup for Flacco kept Cam on the bench again, and I lost points again.

I said to myself then that I was a fantasy believer and that Cam was my starter. But I'm having second thoughts again. Flacco is facing a tired, injured, discouraged STL defense coming off a short week. He is again in a postition that he has to prove himself and I think they will call a bunch of downfield plays.

Any opinions?

I'm 1-1 in a short regular season and only 4 teams go to playoffs in a 16 team league. Which means there is verrry little help on FA wire. I don't want any more losses! I'm getting trade offers like crazy for Cam but have put him off limits.

I don't think you can sit Newton. He will eevntually come back to earth a bit but I think you need to start him especially at home against a team that doesn't appear to be very good.

I don't think Flaaco is going to have Lee Eans to stretch the field right? I think they lean on Rice and their TE's this week. It could go either way but I wouldn't hestitate to start Newton over Flacco this week.

The jags D had a good showing against the Titans in week 1 but have been shuffling a lot of players. I just think everyone assumes it will be the jags week 2 D against the jets that will show up on Sunday and I'm not completely sold on that.

And Evans does look like he will sit.

You think you've got it bad?

I've got Cam and Aaron Rodgers to decide between each week.

Went with Cam last week, and was glad I did. Going with him again this week too.

Cam over Rodgers last week? Just didn't want to "cheer" against the Panthers or what? Good call with hindsight and all, but crazy IMO.

    • Well, the whole rationale used  for the high IQ point guard is it would allow us to spend our resources elsewhere….instead it’s all our first rounders ever since to support the bad pick.  Reality is our front office is just bad.  If you wanted Bryce Young you were going to need to do something unique and special for him.  Instead we just insert a QB with traditional tools into old NFL concepts that pair with traditional talent and our pass game is whack
    • Good to see some other folks are speaking the same language on this. It's simple common sense. But it seems like there's a disconnect due to the misplaced value the team has put on Thielen because he was the only vaguely good veteran WR willing to sign with the Panthers after we traded away DJ Moore. That time has come and gone. We have two first round WR's on the roster now.
    • Yeah I’m turning this into a Bryce can’t play QB thread. Just stating that offense was a poo show two years ago. No QB is succeeding in that, much less a rookie. I feel like it’s become a common debate strategy on here to just jump down the rabbit hole of saying he is just bad in so many ways when any certain point gets countered. If that doesn’t work we can deflect to how poorly this team has been ran. In regards to the actual point we are debating, the OL was struggling, half of the skill players aren’t on a roster, Mingo has done nothing with his new team and the staff are either not coaching or on their 3rd team in 3 years, aside from McCown (I liked McCown too). Honestly about as bad as it gets. No need to try to state how good of an offense it was billed it because that has been proven false at this point.
