Can Shula help us shut down Jacksonville's offense

I was reading an article about Mike Shula in the Observer and the thought crossed my mind, will having Shula on our staff this year after serving as QB coach for the last 4 years in Jacksonville help us prepare for their offense?? He surely should know the philosophy and plays. He should also understand their tendencies and system.

Kotter their offensive coordinator is considered pretty good but they lack lots of passing weapons. Here is an article.

I would think it does give us an advantage.

Maybe, but IMO it's all about execution. The NFL is full of coaches who have been other places and I just don't think it's that simple or easy.

Of course execution is a big deal. But if you know what they are going to do in which down and distance and you know their tendencies then execution is much simplier since you can be at the right place at the right time. Del Rio is alot like Fox in that they keep it simple and try to use individual talent to prevail. Didn't work that great for Fox and hasn't for Del Rio. Personally I go for great scheme, great adjustments and great execution.

As for coaches being other places, it isn't the same as if Jacksonville had installed a different scheme with different people. They have the same coaches and scheme, should be the same offense.

I'd think the advance scouts (or whatever they are called) are pretty good at their jobs of analyzing tendencies. It might help, but I just cant imagine it's anything big.

I think it will be a bigger deal than you do given he was the quarterback's coach but there is a reason you and I are sitting here talking about the game while they are playing it. LOL.

We were able to adjust against Starks and Grant from GB and Beanie Wells in AZ. Stack the box with 8 defenders and another Safety close for run support. MJD can't beat us by himself. I think Carolina will make Gabbert beat us. Can he do it, in his first NFL start? Can the Jaguars score more than one TD in a game? Can Jacksonville limit Carolina to less than 24 points? If you really look at it, I don't think so. After tomorrow Carolina will be 1-2.:D

"conceptual tendencies"?
I'm used to coaching/teaching children, so if you need me to break it down in the KISS method I can.

Language like that is almost ban worthy.
I'll keep my comments about your post to myself.

It would likely be over your head and almost ban worthy anyway, lol.

-Cheers
